I don't see where you are coming from with the Matta/Crean comparison. Looking at the resumes:
Matta has 8 conference titles (including 5 B1G titles), Crean has 2 conference titles (both B1G). Matta has 6 conference tournament titles (including 4 B1G titles), Crean has 0 conference tournament titles. Matta has 2 Final Fours, Crean has 1 Final Four. Matta has 4 Elite Eight appearances, Crean has 1 Elite Eight appearance. Matta has 6 Sweet Sixteen appearances, Crean has 4 Sweet Sixteen appearances. Matta has a .752 (.709 conference) winning percentage, Crean, removing years 1-2 from IU, has a .656 (.587 conference) winning percentage. And on top of that, Matta has a NIT Championship.
There's not one single metric in which Crean has been more successful than Matta. I'm curious, then, why you think they are the same guy? I'm not tying to be a haterz "hammering" you, but I'm curious what has influenced you to make that comparison, especially starting in 2008 when the resume comparison was much more favorable to Matta. Granted, Matta has not been good the past 3 seasons, but I think that his health is wearing him down and is going to cut short his coaching career.
