If IU strikes out on a decent number of head coaches...what does everyone think of considering an assistant coach like Luke Murray?
Read up on his resume...it seems like he's a guy that's often instrumental in helping turn programs around...and has been hugely influential in Hurley's successes, including his turnaround and dominance at UConn.
Some notes:
-Hurley was struggling at Rhode Island the first couple years. Murray joined him in 2013. In their 2nd year together, they won 23 games and nearly won their conference.
-He was at Xavier after that, and their team had 3 of the best years in their schools history, getting a 1 seed in 2018.
-He was at Louisville, and they had 3 good years while he was there, before the awful Kenny Payne years.
-Hurley, again, was struggling his first 3 years at UConn...Murray's first year with Hurley at UConn, Hurley had his first 20 win season at UConn, the next two after that, they dominated everyone and won the Natty.
He's never proven it as a head coach...so I'd say there are probably a decent amount of "better" candidates because they have head coaching experience. But he's another guy I have my eye on as someone that will end up being a force as a major college coach some day.
