. . . free throw defense I've ever seen, and without it we'd have never won that game. ;)

In all seriousness, this team kinda reminds me of the 1990 Atlanta Braves. That team was young, had some developing talent like Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, David Justice, Ron Gant, Kent Mercker and Steve Avery, but had an aging superstar in Dale Murphy. And the team kinda deferred to Murph . . . they were waiting for their "best" player to do whatever it was that the team needed - kinda like what this IU team seems to have been doing a little bit with Morgan and Langford.

Well, Murph was traded to Philadelphia early in August, and the Braves played so-so ball the rest of that season, but some of the guys started to show some production from their talent . . . and then in 1991 they went brought in some new guys - Belliard, Bream, Pendleton and a flash named Deion Sanders - and went from worst to first.

What's the point of all this? I dunno . . . I guess it's just that after seeing the young guys play without Juwan available, I'm now mollified that IU's bball program is gonna be all right even without Juwan after this season. Love having Juwan on this team, and love having had him at IU for the last 4 years. But IU is going to be OK . . . we need some muscle, sure, but there are some guys who have enough talent that Archie can develop for IU to be OK.

The style that MSU plays allowed Davis to be effective. It is a lot harder for Davis to get out on step out three's like how Michigan plays.

On the other hand, having Davis is like having a Phillips head screwdriver. When the job requires it, you better have the right tool.

Nice post.

Are you in the right thread though?

And then the Braves lost to Minnesota in seven games.

Is Archie Bobby Cox?

And Fred Glass is certainly no John Schuerholz, in baseball's HOF. Schuerholz had one hell of a run in Kansas City and Atlanta. If Glass has the half the ability we might be okay.
