Two important items. With Lander's 3.8 gpa, he may be able to graduate high school in 3 years. That is something coaches will need to take into account. I was told he would go to a prep school his senior year. He might go straight to college. The second point is he plans to study mechanical engineering. That doesn't fit well with IU's academic programs.

The talk around town that Khristian and his mom like IU may not be enough. I'm sure Archie has heard his choice of majors and knows there are factors he can't control. Does he still focus on Lander or look for another top PG for '21?

Graduating early is about credits and usually requires a plan put in place from the Freshman year.

Not trying to raise Feepaw out of his coffin but the consensus is that Lander loves the ACC.

He's quick but he's very light and a physical conference like the big ten is not in his best interest.

So yeah, Louisville is probably the big leader right now.

Regardless of whether this kid goes to IU or not, I doubt he ends up majoring in ME. My son did that at Purdue. It's hard, and is hard right from the start. There is very little flexibility in the classes you take. I'm not saying it's impossible, but rather unlikely for someone with good NBA prospects.

I rate him as really slow and extremely light upstairs.

Agree his schtick is better suited to the Summit or Horizon.

Yes, CAM should still focus on Lander. And yes, he should look for another top PG for ‘21 should he not get Lander. There should be and probably is a contingency plan on most if not all recruitments.

Miller needs a point guard who will stay at least 2 years. I would not waste time on any player who didn't intend to be there.

I don't think Lander fits the bill and I think IU should focus on the needs the team has.

If he is the #1 PG and he wants to play in the ACC, than it wouldn’t shock me if he went to Duke. If Academics “long-term” matter to him, Duke would be a great choice. UofL is a horrible college. It’s about a half step above a community college.

Archie needs to figure out 4 kids that he feels good about landing them and go hard after them. We can’t afford to whiff in recruiting. If we have to keep getting Trey Galloways and Jordan Geronimos that’s fine. Just keep bringing in 4 star guys. When the program is on better footing we can start jumping in for some big fish.

C'mon now. I accomplished my Masters at UofL. There's no need to disrespect community colleges on this forum.

If he wants to play in the NBA (ugh) then he will need to get physical, very physical.

our son is an honors student and the local CC is going to save us $50K-$60K when it's over. He's still going to tx to a B1G school next year. Had more interest in keeping debt down and knocking out all the transferable core classes vs binge drinking at the Frat house. How you can you not be proud of your kid for that? Now if the CC can just teach him to pick up his dirty clothes up off the bathroom floor in our house......

True, but after he gets to the NBA.

We saw what happened to Romeo when the conference started roughing him up. The big ten has been described as tackle basketball.

As far as Lander I don't care either way, just passing along a narrative that I heard that makes sense. His eyes are on the NBA (like everyone) and he's maybe 160 pounds wet...the conference in style of play could impact his thought process.

Does anyone remember the sports caster who said something like the score was 37-25, just like Louisville’s team IQ?
Pat Summeral? I am sure I do not have the quote totally accurate. Does anyone remember?

Please don't play this guy up like everyone did with Romeo. One big flop!

This “conference style of play” schtick is such a load of shit. No conferences play physically anymore. The refs call fouls for staring.

If he doesn’t come here fine, we’ll move on. But let’s not make up excuses before he even makes a decision.

My son just graduated UL with a chemical engineering degree. Tough major and he got the degree. Screw your opinion of UL.

Archie let 2 scholarships go unused this year w Hunter, Race, Phinisee and DDavis on the roster...you might want to email him about the idea of ‘contingency plans’, and update him on the grad transfer process while you are at it...

Feel free to email CAM yourself. Knock yourself out...

I missed the game in which we needed two more guys to win. Maybe it’s coming. Or maybe you hallucinated a loss that didn’t actually happen because you have serious mental issues.

Lander is not coming to iu
Who knows but Howard is going to be landing a lot of five stars at Michigan so beating him out will be tough. I'm guessing he will bring in top 10 classes every year.

Howard certainly appears to be both a good recruiter and a good coach. I was kinda hoping that JH would crash and burn at UM. Appears not to be the case..

I did as well but Michigan certainly seems to make great hires

The way Michigan is steam rolling gonzaga and other top teams it's going to be the hot new destination. Im guessing that is here he goes imo.

I didn’t think it was a good hire because of his lack of coaching experience (I assumed he would be a good recruiter). I watched the past 2 games and they look like a really good team that is well coached. I’ll still hold off a couple of years before crowning him:)

If IU fans are expected to be 5 years patient to tell if Archie is any good...seems like Howard would get the 5 year plan before he is evaluated too...

Howard is playing with players who are pretty much developed. I’m waiting to see what he does when those players are gone. How many times have we seen a coach crash and burn after. ( Bruce Weber, Mike Davis) I think him having Marteli on staff helps a bunch.

Add in Tubby and Ollie. I think Howard will recruit like a beast and we're likely not getting Lander but it's still very much wait and see if he can coach.

We are better off with a Wisconsin model of three and four stars. We may get an occasional five star but we are likely to lose most 5 star battles.

Michigan looks poised to become Kentucky North. They need to get on each other’s schedule for a made-for-TV “Battle of the Titans”. It could get interesting here.
