KW gets Tulsa HC job

No he couldn't follow the rules Glass laid out for him. Either OSU overlooked his behavior, or he has finally changed his behavior. If he hasn't Tulsa will be surprised about him.

Check out ELMeson's post to see what could have been going on beside mistreatment of injured players.
There was nothing verified that had to be overlooked.
In Oklahoma the established FB culture doesn't care. He'll have another high-powered offense there and full speed ahead.

I think we’ve all read them on message boards. Let’s start. He was a drunk, had a driver take him to Elletsville and Martinsville to drink. He had sexual relationships with coeds. He was a dick to boosters. What else am I missing? It’s funny because I’d think that if these rumors were true, wouldn’t his wife left him by now? Coeds come forward? Maybe even arrested? Why would OSU hire him? He went through a coaching change. If he was so bad, why did Day retain him after Urban’s departure?

His issues with alcohol were widely known. The other allegations you cite are news to me.

i don't know about wilson but judging by this years results i'd say allen's forgotten everything he knew about defense
You are ignoring the injuries and fast paced offense putting the defense in a bind and needing to play a number of freshmen. By the end of the year when coach finally told Bell to slow the offense down IU had to move Fitzerald to LB and start a freshman LB against PU all added to the problems on defense. Bell only cared about his QBs hence no matter how bad Bazelak looked in most games he wouldn't replace him and I knew he was afraid the QBs would so Bell screwed up. Sure, enough Tuttle, until he got hurt, and Williams was better from three and outs Bell screwed up in a bad way. I am hoping coach Allen will fire him soon because he could go back to the speedy way to run offense unless coach told him about the NFL saying running fast paced is the way. Bell seemed to know he was wrong and it wasn't until it looked like coach Allen to play other QB that Bell did. Even then, he played Sorsby before Williams and Sorby looked like a deer in the headlights. Coach gave Bell the excuse that Williams didn't practice well.

You wonder why Williams didn't look so good throwing the ball in the short game Bell had him running against air all Fall with the 3rd string. Williams fell back on his HS training to complete deep passes until the MSU game. In OT Bell decide to throw seem routes to the TE and the throwback pass for the 2pt play. I ask why we didn't see those pass plays in the field as Williams was on target for both passes.

As you can tell I am not a Bell fan and he drove away Barner by not utilizing TEs in the middle of the field. I would fire him just for that reason but for many others I have already posted about.

I thought that Mallory was forced on CKW, just my guess. He then picked Knorr which was a huge mistake. He then focused on recruiting solid defensive players that matured about the time Allen was hired for a perfect storm making Allen look like a defensive guru.
CKW knows what a real college football team looks like and was turning the ship slowly in that direction. Unfortunately the small town atmosphere and a politically correct AD wasn't a good combination for his way of doing things. A hard ass approach won't work with our fans and administrators and he wore out his welcome in Bloomington.
Or recruiters, recruits families, former star players families, the media…the hard ass approach was definitely not limited to “fans and administrators”.

That’s what I never understood about KW…for a very intelligent guy, he was even an a-hole to people who could have really helped him at IU.

You’re missing a lot actually. Lots of things that I have never seen on message boards and won’t.

There are many honest and reliable people who know the truth. These aren’t necessarily the same people who hang out on message boards or want their stories blabbed randomly either.

True... My b-in-law spent 40 years in B-town as a HS coach, teacher and administrator... fairly well connected in Bloomington.... and at least a year before KW was fired he told me about two incidents where KW was "escorted" home by Monroe County's finest... one was the Martinsville incident. He also said there was a little bit of a "brush up" with one of the more generous boosters. He told me then about everyone in town associated with IU, the B'town school system, business community and law enforcement knew about KW's problem(s) and that they were pretty serious... I refused to believe him at the time.... then KW was fired for everything he'd told me.

Maybe he hates stupid people? I am sure our admin and alumni groups are filled with them.

This is why he won’t make it as a HC at a P5 IMO. It’s part and parcel to the position (especially at a struggling program like IU) that even if you THINK someone is “stupid”, demanding, etc., if that person is in a position to help you in any way, you have to try to work with them. Kevin’s ego wouldn’t allow that.

It’s too bad. I think KW is an elite offensive “X and O” guy, I love what he did with the O-Line, he seemed to instill some swagger that made the team competitive with the elite programs, etc. but in the end being a jackass just caught up with him - couldn’t hang on to quality assistants, couldn’t recruit at the level he needed, couldn’t get enough support from in state “FB guys” etc.

People point at the drinking and abuse allegations, etc. but just being a general all around a-hole was Kevin’s major issue.

I’m not sure that’s fixable. I guess we’ll find out.

What quality assistants has Allen “hung on to”?
To be fair, I think quality assistants take better quality jobs, better pay, better stepping stones, than leaving for issues with either KW or TA.
I think most would agree, the two that left TA to take head coaching positions, left because they were taking HC positions. And were both 10-2 this year.
