Kremlin: US sudden shift in foreign policy “largely aligns with our vision”

1 be in the same place they are now in a year with our money down the shitter and more dead
2 if z wanted to sign he could have signed. Period. A deal wasn’t done. So this was premature.
3 I believe the duty for decorum and grace rested with us not z. Man has been living through years of war. Who knows what his mental state is at this point. Maybe they do need someone new for the diplomacy bit. Someone with a fresh approach. You take your opponent as you get them and this isn’t woke social workers like Harris and walz. It’s a guy with narcissistic personality disorder and another guy on the spectrum

We'll just going to disagree on #3. He was well aware what was to happen. Deal was done by Bessent a week or so earlier. Z demanded it be done with the President. We complied. He came with pics in hand, so he had a plan to negotiate in front of the press. Insulting, IMHO.

Even if you're right - and you're not, but even if you are - it's still a fact that Trump cancelled the signing and kicked Z out of the WH. That's not how a leader who "wants peace" behaves.

Well I am right, as I usually am. And I do wish Trump had handled it differently. But he's not going to let anyone punk him in his Oval Office. It's Trump.

Deal is never done until it’s signed and the check is in the bank

No, I am not cool with Z ambushing Trump with demands and picture props. And no, I am not cool with what the Kremlin says.

I am also not cool with people dying everyday. I am not cool with religious persecution. I am not cool with spending billions.

But Trump has to call Z a dictator, or the Kremlin is giddy, or whatever to get a deal done, then fine.

Sounds like to me you are just fine with the killing as long the optics are good. Biden didn’t cave and didn’t negotiate with a dictator. Wow, he's so awesome. Only several hundred thousand died with that strategy.

religious persecution? Please, tell us about that.

It’s sad that Russian invaded Ukraine and Hamas attacked Israel but it’s helping us learn a lot about our new populist foreign policy. 🤮

Ya, it’s weird that an invaded country would want to block influence from the invading country. Or maybe we think the Russian Orthodox Church acts independently? (It doesn’t)

Maybe Ukrainians didn’t want Russian Orthodox clergy performing funeral rites for their 12,000 dead countrymen? (They didn’t; the move was overwhelming supported by Ukrainians)

The US isn’t even at war with China and still banned TikTok (kinda).

Guess the US should have passed a law blocking Islam after 911.

The forum18 article is a great read. I doubt you will. I linked Human Rights Watch and the UN as well, but it sounds like you don't care.

I was hoping that the anti-Vance contingent in the WH would convince Trump that Vance was trying to undermine him, and that would naturally lead to a stronger desire to support Ukraine.
Not if it would offend Putin. Trump just wants a deal. Any deal. No matter how bad. He thinks it will get him the Nobel.

Telling Ukraine to give up sections of their country to Russia would be similar to someone telling us to give up Hawaii after Pearl Harbor.

Biggest difference being we didn't require as much assistance. But you're as likely to convince Ukraine of giving up part of their country as you would have been able to convince Americans that Hawaii was expendable for peace.

If those Muslim clerics were answering to terrorists, yes. If they were advising Americans to join our enemies, yes.

I read the articles and many more before. War is a messy.

Funny we ignore human rights orgs and the UN re: Gaza, and rightfully so, but we’re all ears when they sound the alarm on Ukraine while it’s in the middle of an existential war against an empire we’ve been countering for 3 generations. An empire that rolled over Georgia in 2008 and has since annexed parts of Ukraine and tried to flatten Ukraine proper. Now we sound the alarms?

Populism just makes for shitty foreign policy.

I don't know of it's populism or not. But whatever it is hasn't been tried since the wall fell, even if before then.

I just don't believe Z is some hero that needs to be put on a pedestal like many do. Putin is a war criminal for sure and I wish there was an effective way to stop him. But it seems like being just ignoring Russia and name calling isn't getting it done. You stated as much with their past actions.

So to me, it seems like Dems and old neo con Pubs want to just keep the status quo: fund the war, let the killing continue, hate Russia. Trump, an ass and narssacist, for whatever his reasons, seems to want to end the war. I'm for that.

And everyone who is anti-Trump just have to believe that he will give everything to Putin because it's been RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA for years. Well, I like to wait for the details and see what Putin gets in the deal before I judge. I'm kinda silly like that.
