Is it still funny? Haven’t watched any in years.

The video I saw of the South African refugees/immigrants had a lot of dangerous-looking desperados walking into the facility. A lot of kids holding American flags. Mothers holding small children. A terrifying group.

Amazing that 50 or so immigrants have caused such fear and hatred. The Episcopalian Church has had a collective meltdown.
If only they were black. Then they would be cared for by those in the media who are stirring up trouble.

Depends on which “media” you’re referring. All media is despicable also as everyone reports with an agenda
Yeah, this “the media is the boogeymen” theme that low information/low IQ people resort to on a regular basis is laughable. They think “media” is still mostly Huntley and Brinkley and the 6:30 news.

What a Christian thing to say.
Do you remember in, "A Time To Kill" when Matthew Mconoughey's character was speaking to the all white jury about what this black girl went through and asked them to close their eyes and imagine? He explained how she was repeatedly raped, spit on, beat on, urinated on, thrown over to die. Then he says, "imagine if she was white".

What in the world does that have to do with Trump discriminating against refugees from countries with predominantly more melanin in their skin than the Afrikaners?
Aren't people complaining about the Afrikaners doing the same thing? Frankly, they probably have a less dubious claim for asylum than the vast majority of mostly economic immigrants crossing the southern border and they come with agricultural skills that are more developed then pickers.

It was on the statue of liberty. Back when being the melting pot was a good thing.
It's a poem, not law, not policy, just one man’s nice words that should not dictate policy, nor does it mean people shouldn’t have to follow procedures & come legally, hickory.

so you would contend that Fox News is unbiased & has no slant or agenda?

Once again I’m not talking about illegals. Trump has blocked the entire refugee resettlement program until he found a cute little pasty white group to invite
He is (possibly) racial and so are you, the only issue you have with each other is who you favor. "Pasty whites" who have representatives of their government singing "Kill the boer" at political rallies have a better refugee claim than a random Kenyan. I think a South Sudanese individual would have a stronger claim than either of them (at the moment, we'll see how South Africa goes).

For what its worth, Trump has a few pretty prominent rich South Africans who have his ear, I think it is more that than a racial preference thing. There are a bunch of stories of "pasty white" European tourists getting caught up in the immigration drag net at the moment too.

It’s all political games and bullshit. Trump doesn’t believe in anything really. Except for what benefits him personally.

Does all of this Afrikaner shit move the needle on immigration? No but shit like the below does. What about the Rohingya. A group labeled by the USA in 2022 (ooooo but Biden so it must be woke) as under threat of genocide in their home country. And we’re considering ending those aid programs (and while I don’t have time to confirm I’d assume their refugee status at some point - we were taking 800 a year), we’re looking to bring in some white folks? Ok. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ROHINGYA?

do both. Be consistent. That Trump feels this must be done to curry favor with his base is gross.

You’re arguing with absolute imbeciles who only care that the refugees look and talk like them. It’s xenophobia pure and simple. The Afghans who have come in the past 3 years as refugees are highly educated, tend to have conservative views, and generally fairly quickly become working, productive members of society. I wonder why they’re no longer welcome 😉

I think you vastly overestimate the assimilation and intentions of such refugees. I get to interact with Somalis regularly and they are not a net positive for society. Culturally, there are major issues that detract from the common beliefs and goals.

I'm not a fan of birthright citizenship, except that it was probably necessary after the Civil War so that freed slaves could be recognized as citizens. However, I don't think it's necessary now. It does not exist in every country and probably shouldn't here. However, though I'm not a lawyer I can read the Constitution and its amendments and I'm certain this cannot be overturned by an Executive Order. I'd bet a ton of money that the SCOTUS will block that EO:

I think targeted immigration like with the Rohingya in smaller doses is what I would prefer.

He is consistent though. He does what he feels is beneficial to him. If he said, "Hey, sucks for the Afrikaners but we really don't have room now. The Netherlands should pick them up," his base would be against them coming here. He had the world's most prominent white South African in his ear for months and who gave support in the form of a huge bull horn on one of the world's most trafficked social media sites and hundreds of millions of dollars. That guy assuredly let him know about the terrible plight of the Afrikaners and he is now getting his back scratched in repayment.

Trump is completely transactional. If he had a Haitian sliding him a $400M new AF1 and asking to open the doors to Haitian immigrants, we would see him and his supporters spouting the virtue of those hardworking people attempting to escape a bad situation. The Rohingya need to crowd fund some campaign donations to get back on the approved list (TIC).

I fully believe this too.

Trump is Trump but I don't think they are 100% wrong on wanting to crack down on immigration in general.

The Netherlands doesn't want farmers. They seem to be doing everything they can to kill agriculture.

If you haven't been properly vetted and can't take care of yourself and be a self sufficient contributor to our economy within a specified time frame, then you should be subject to additional requirements or affected by extraordinary circumstances before we let you in.

Yeah that statement wasn't really based on what the Dutch want.

No disagreement there.

Craze, you write "Trump is completely transactional".

I've been struggling with defining transactional as it relates to Trump.

Would rewarding your friends and punishing your enemies fit Trump's style of being transactional?

His compulsive urge to punish those who have crossed swords with him is a big turn off for me.

Why is Afrikaner spelled with a k?

To me, the bolded part is yes. I think he does have some underlying beliefs that tend to flavor what he likes to do, but I think he is swayed in one direction or another based on his perception of what is in it for him or the, I don't know, "loyalty" of the people or person wanting to push him in one direction or another.

That’s precisely what I meant by that.

Politics has always been transactional to some degree. Horse trading, tit for tat, compromise often being less about meeting in the middle and more about both sides getting something distinct that they want.

But I think Donald Trump takes that to a whole new level. And not in a healthy way. You’re either with him (for which he demands fealty) or you’re against him (where he’ll find some way to make your life hell).

This, it’s not about race, it’s about speaking the same language, fitting in culturally, & probably economic status, which are all fine by me. If people want to help refugees, that’s great, they can do so personally, but I don't want to pay for it when there are thousands of Americans that need help…

Agreed.

Also, I'll keep saying it over and over not that it matters. Democrats think in generations and Republicans think in 4 year cycles. The PTB know this.

Why else can't I get some douche like @HurryingHoosiers

To answer the simple question, "why do you want immigrants here?"

I'm from Washington, IN. Been living nearby for 15 years. Hardly have been around until the last 2-3. It's, well, different. Not the same town I grew up in.

Bloomington is a shithole. The one thing we should all agree on is going to shit. We'll, except IU football

Coach Cig for Mayor of every town and Governor

Jet, how do you respond to someone such as myself who thinks about being part of what is called the human race?

I understand this wasn't for me.

Competition. We can't save everyone.

I'm a Christian and also have a degree in biology.

Forget the human race.

What are your personal struggles? Work within what you can control.

The human mind is an asshole

Too late -- this doesn't make up for the crappy thing you posted in your Post No. 140, "pastor."

The movie is an example of what people are saying about letting white people in the country. They are not illegal. They are being slaughtered and there are some people who would let them in gladly if they were black.

You're trying to deflect attention away from what you posted in Post 140.

No one is against white people being let in. People are just pointing out the hypocrisy of the people that call anyone of color illegal immigrants.

Sorry but just making immigration exceptions for white people is pretty suspect.
