Kaleb Banks

Maybe you guys should actually see him play first.
What if I heard it from a little birdie that you would trust?

Seem to recall very same things were being said about 5,6 yrs ago about Jerome Hunter....
I believe very similar in size skill set if I recall correctly
Jerome's career at IU was significantly altered by his early injury issues.

There's no way of knowing how good he would have been had he not had those leg issues. He might still be dealing with them for all I/we know.

Trey will play if healthy, he just brings to much to the table to sit. Go IU
While Galloway has been one of our better players, it’s all been for poor teams. His ceiling is very low because he’s so one dimensional on offense. If his shot doesn’t improve I don’t see him getting more than 10 mpg. That would be a good thing for IU, because it means our higher ceiling players developed.

Overall agree. If he’s healthy and only getting 10 minutes or so, that’s likely a good sign for our team.

But I wouldn’t say he’s one dimensional. He’s a good passer, good penetrator, and good finisher for the most part. And he can guard and rebound at multiple positions.

Not a great perimeter shooter, obviously. Like Miller, I think Treys minutes will depend on how numerous other players perform, how he performs, and how the coaches want to play style wise.

I would agree that I hope both Kopp and Galloway see a reduced roll, because that means we got significantly better that their positions.

However, I will have to disagree on some of your Galloway analysis. He's actually a really bad rebounder. He was dead last on the team in rebound rate at 4.6%. As for passing, he was 5th on the team in assist rate at 16.3%, but he was also 5th on the team when it comes to turning the ball over with a turnover rate of 20.2%.

Galloway is a really good energy guy, but I think he would need to take a big step skill wise to be a 20+ mpg guy on a good team.

Gonna be the guy for IU out of this class. Already turning heads…

Better pin this one. ☝️
Race has said he’s been impressed with Reneau, so there might be a couple good freshmen. Just hard to say if they’ll be anything against good college competition. If just one of them is ready at this level it’ll be a big boon for an already talented and experienced team.

I expect the same from TJD, Race, and XJ. That might be enough with how many players left other teams.
I hope, and think, it is realistic for JG to jump. Same for Tamar.
If one Freshman makes a big contribution (starter?) that will make us really good. Don’t know who that would be.
Two frosh with big minutes would make us final four.
I am not expecting much from Kopp, Leal, Duncomb, or Trey.
Certainly could be wrong and time will tell.

I watched Hunter play a decent amount this past year, as X seemed to be on TV quite a bit. And often, he was just taking up space. His shooting numbers are still bad...even worse this year. I think he lost his starting spot as the season rolled on

In an earlier post someone said and I paraphrase: “better watch him play first”. I would add “In college games”.

Somewhere I have a grainy old VHS of Reed/Hodgson (sp) /Patterson and miller. Rob Hodgson looked like Larry Bird. But, that was in High school.

I can’t tell you know times people posted that Hunter or (Insert any name: Demezi Anderson????) was better than Smith or some other player we had. Note: Looking good against South Anderson Central doesn’t mean jack when you roll into Madison. Neither does looking good in practice for that matter.

I am cautiously optimistic about all the new guys, but it’s early. Every off season it seems like our biggest problem is having too many mouths to feed and how many kids will transfer due to a lack of minutes.

I seem to remember Hunter having a serious leg injury. Sure that had nothing to do with his struggles. Banks better athleticism too.

Did everyone forget about Fino?
With all we hear, it is surprising more is not said about him. Maybe it's because people expected much from him as a 5 star and he committed early, so we felt like we snuck one in on MR?
