Kaiser announcing Sunday…

I am right wing and left wing. Depends on the question. But I dont force it down somebody else.
I don’t care that he’s right wing but recruits and parents might. If you are selling a brand as Jordan used to say,”Republicans buy shoes too”. That’s why you never see him doing what lebron does. Fifes or woodys politics shouldn’t be the first topic when recruiting. Imho.

Watching some videos on this dude, and I was not that impressed. Sour grapes… fine. 6-6 and kind of moves like a slug. He has plenty of offers, so I’m probably wrong, but IU needs to be landing better players in my opinion. Max preps lists him at 27% from three?

No biggie. Woody has barely been on the job plus Dane Fife screwed us over big time. 2023 will be fine and 2024 could be insane. Remember, the transfer portal is a yearly lottery as well. If IU has a good year then things will be great recruiting wise
Someone kick Fife again..

Fife didn’t get picked up by anyone. Rumors from MSU is he pulled dumb crap before bolting to IU(probably was going to get canned). He constantly did things behind Woodys back, talked bad about NIL on Twitter(and to recruits), talked about politics(he’s crazy right winged) after being told to shut up, offered a scholarship to kids before Woody approved. His closeness to Dakich and other insiders got to be a problem as he was complaining to them woody wasn’t listening to the assistants. When all along it was woody not listening to him. Bad fit and since nobody has heard from him it’s probably mostly all true.
"He's crazy right winged". How about you leave it at politics.

Well, it's obvious we have been targeting 2 needs for the balance of the '23 class: a shooter and a big. The # of candidates for each are starting to dwindle! I'm not a recruitnik, but I do want to see us fill the roles we want and get the guys we want with our recruiting. So far, CMW has done a terrific job with recruiting, but it's a "what have you done for me lately" world. Obviously there are more guys in the transfer portal, so we can try that. Personally, I think if I were coach and had my recruiting under control, I'd generally try and save 1 extra scholly for the spring always, just to see if you can pick up a player who can really help you, closer to knowing exactly what your needs are.

Oh but he cant. To some everything must be political. He needed to get the shot in clearly for whatever reason.
Pot meat kettle. It was a quote from someone else. If you are so sensitive stay home. That was the description so you know what? Idgaf. When I say crazy left wing you guys would put a like and a smile face on it. Good grief.

Hopefully he never gets a job again and the family suffers.. am I right?
I would not be shocked if that is what he wishes given there was no need to make the comment he did but he just could not help himself. Some on the left seem to find incredible joy in the suffering of those they do not like politically. Makes me think they are not very happy people themselves if you need to get joy out of someone else suffering.

This is some comedy gold.

Kind of a bummer.

Kaiser isn't a game changer, by any means. But we do need more players like him on our roster, I think.

As it stands today...post depth and then the modern day wing is what we're missing, roster wise, looking ahead to the 23 and 24 seasons.

Ball handlers...JHS, Bates, Cupps
Post players...Reneau, Duncomb
Wings...Banks, Gunn, Newton (Geronimo and Galloway will be seniors next year, obviously major contributors, but not who I'd look to as part of the "future")

We need to lock down Page. And then we need to get some 6'6-6'8 wings that can shoot the ball. Would obviously take any sort of high level perimeter player. But its obvious the top college teams often emulate where the NBA is headed. And its quite clear the NBA is shifting to having as many long, athletic, wings as you can that can defend and shoot.

Never got the sense with Kaiser either. Wouldn't categorize him as a wow athlete and he seems to be a streaky shooter, although his form does look good on film. Seems like a high quality, fundamentally sound basketball player that would be a good role player on a top ranked basketball team. He does have a clear path to starting and playing a prominent role right away at Maryland.

Still can't help to think that completely abandoning Carr, whom I think would have committed months ago, to recruit Kaiser and Harris-Smith (not likely coming) is going to come back and bite the staff. His shooting woes are well-documented but it's not like either of the two players IU pursued are knock down 3 point shooters in their own right and neither possess NBA size and athleticism like Carr. Since IU's backed off, both Tennessee and Michigan State have gotten heavily involved, and along with UConn, will be his final destination.

Was there also a sliver of Booker optimism for a bit, that also may have led to us to backing off Carr?

To be honest, I haven't followed it all that closely. I just know we need another big, and then some NBA type wings. And if JHS is good enough to leave early after this/next year...we'll need more ball handlers too! But, assuming we do want to become elite again, its too established now to even argue about. Natty contending teams all have a stable of 6'5 to 6'9 athletic wings, with a couple, at least, being able to knock down 3's.

You make room for Booker if he wants to come in whatever way you can, I don't think his pursuit had anything to do with Carr's recruitment. IU's discontinuation of Carr's recruitment aligns with Kaiser pushing back his commitment date and IU offering and really taking a hard look at Harris-Smith.
