Juwan Howard Michigan Coach

LAUGH OUT EFFING LOUD!!!!

Chris Mullin was 10x the basketball player that Juwan Howard was and he couldn’t coach a lick. Being good at basketball doesn’t translate to being a good coach. There’s nothing that indicates Juwan Howard will be anything but a decent recruiter. Such an underwhelming hire.

Taking one from your page, let the adults handle this one.

Zeke was 25X Howard in all phases and he couldn't coach a lick either. Fraudy is spinning out of control

I live up near Ann Arbor. The ad said he wanted an experienced head coach and then hired someone with none, zero, nada.

Coaching is a lot more than recruiting in college. You are basically a ceo and a coach. Surprised UofM could not get what they originally set out to get.. a proven ncaa coach

Almost all coaching hires are a risk. Especially when you are replacing a HOF coach. But I view this one as an unreasonable risk. But maybe it will pay off. Sometimes they do.0
And sometimes it flops.

I cant find the article I read a few days ago abt L.Jordan and Howard - but it was basically saying Michigan is able to be a very good basketball program regardless...
However they were seeking coaches that could with continue the integrity and character of Michigan basketball that Beilein had made the norm...and for that reason were focused on Jordan and Howard.

I wish I could find it - but the internet has obviously been flooded with Mich coach stories over the last few days.

I would think Howard would absolutely command respect from his players for what he has done at Mich and after.
I would think he has more set plays, Out of Bounds plays, and strategic situational sets and plays than most from his time in NBA.

I think he succeeds.

Or not owning reading comprehension issues?
It’s not a matter of comprehension, at least on my part. You made an ignorant prediction and you’re trying to make excuses to cover up your lack of knowledge. It’s cowardly, especially when you demand a higher standard from others. You were wrong. Way wrong. Stop being a coward and just own it.

and by the way, that last paragraph includes 3 areas Archie has looked lost at. Out of bounds plays I hounded on him all season(Holtman and UL made him look foolish)...Romeo scores 14 in first half doesnt get a shot off til under 2min left (no set plays for your star), etc

Howard like Ewing wasn't going to get an NBA coaching gig so they
hired him at the NCAA level. If successful at his Wolverine post
then he may get into the NBA.
i heard from a guy who retired from the business that howard is well thought of in the nba and already interviewed for a head coaching gig

The odds are greatly against him.

He doesn't even have NBA head coaching experience....hell any head coaching experience.

This was fan service.

If I was Michigan I'd be terrified.

As an IU fan I'm elated.

There is a trail of tears of ex all american players that have been awful head coaches. Hell Michigan went through it with Tommy Amaker. You would think that they would want to spend the big money on someone proven or at least the resident drama queen said they would.

I guess when Ed Cooley turns you down then you just say what the f, let's try something and see if it works.

Funny we don’t remember you hounding Archie over his inbound plays this year. Could be we realized long ago you actually don’t know shit about basketball...lol

how can it not?
exactly my thought. And I agree, I've always like Juwan. He was the meat-n-potatoes of the fab/fraud five. Hard working, good post moves, not a big showboater.
But yeah...how does he find success at UM...without causing us problems? After all, we are rivals in close proximity, in the same conference.

All here that shredded the Tom Allen hire due to lack of HC experience must really HATE the JH hire.

Right?
Tom Allen didn't play in the NFL, Tom Allen didn't play in the NCAA Championship game. His street cred with 5* and 4* HS recruits is not where Howard is. If IU hired Trent Green or another former Hoosier/NFL player, then it would be closer to the Howard hire. Howard was already a NBA Asst. Coach who was in line for a future NBA job. He has coaching experience, just not at the college level. Howard hire may turn out to be a good move, especially for recruiting, only time will tell.

A few media outlets have reported that Stevens and Donovan weren't interested in the gig or turned AD Warde down. He must be a failure as AD, and that program is a washed-up bottom feeder that nobody good would want to coach at.

you are so right. i remember the good old days of the nba. Krzyzewski leading the fast break, hitting calipari on the wing, then watching cal toss it up to roy williams for a slam dunk. that's why they are the successful coaches they are today
That's got to be the first time I've ever seen you use capitalization in any of your posts. Coach K must've been really good in order to get such recognition. Can we get some YouTube highlights?

That poster knows less about football than he does about basketball. He’s a non-IU troll. Ignore him.

After thinking about this a little more, I don't think this is a terrible hire, its just not a huge/big-time hire that some are making it out to be. Most of all I think that it is a big-risk hire, which should temper any major enthusiasm.

Possibly a great hire. Michigan can recruit at a very high level, both nationally and in the region. Talent can overcome many flaws. Howard can reunite the Fab 5 and create an atmosphere like nowhere else in the country. If Howard can manage the talent and keep it together, Michigan could dominate the conference for years to come.

Nobody knows if he can actually coach.
Recruit - yes.
Coach - ?

Like I said....fan service.

Fans are idiots by the way.

Good luck with this.

Who has he recruited that makes him a good recruiter?

I mean Danny Manning, Chris Mullen and Patrick Ewing are absolutely tearing it up.

I hope that Howard is the first guy to have to vacate seasons as a player and as a coach. That would be an interesting accomplishment.

Funny how the worse the IU program gets...the more hate IU fans throw towards successful programs...
I think it may be at an all-time high currently.

And about Donovan. And when you said 1/2 way through the season that the wheels were in motion to fire Miller. And about most other things you say.
I said that after the season. And yes, moves are being made behind the scenes. They’re quiet moves, but when certain people start talking...the pieces on the board start slowly moving. Believe me, not everyone is kicked back in their rocker loving what they’ve seen so far.

You’re the one who made the ridiculously uninformed prediction that you now are too cowardly to own. Blame yourself for the ignorance that the rest of us can see.

Like the moves Billy Donovan and his wife made when they went ultra-ninja and made a stealth appearance in Bloomington?

I've been waiting all afternoon to post this because I wanted to be 100% sure. I got a text this morning about it and admittedly I thought it was a rumor at first. I've been waiting to make sure its 100% before posting.
I can say with 100% confidence that Billy and his wife were in Bloomington this morning.
I don't see any scenario where he and his wife come to town and he doesn't take the job. It's happening!!!

Yeah - I bet you've got "100% confidence" on this as well, right?

YDS

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

And that maniacal laughter is at the notion that you have any inside information at all.
