It's despicable. But Thomas has shown there are no checks and balances for the court.American flag flying upside down at his house. Between he and Thomas …. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/su...g-upside-down-following-jan-6-nyt-2024-05-17/ Hard to even pretend they are not political.

See, COH and Farva are right. It’s always the women’s fault!Alito, ever the chickenshit, blamed it on his wife.
Meanwhile, Thomas never discusses politics or cases with his "best friend."
Libs are all for burning flags because they don’t mean anything but hang one upside down and anarchy ensuesI don’t get it. The significance of this is……?
Be careful. Zeke is off limits.I don’t get it. The significance of this is……?
It's all very weird. Doesn't make much sense that it is news now and also doesn't make much sense in how Alito tries to explain what happened (at least in the way that story is written.)And why is it news now?
You don’t know what an upside down flag stands for?I don’t get it. The significance of this is……?
Remind me which liberal SC Justice burned a flag and then we can actually have an apples to apples discussion, instead of your silliness.Libs are all for burning flags because they don’t mean anything but hang one upside down and anarchy ensues

Maybe Alito and his wife felt in danger with Schumer and others threatening Supreme Court Justices. Maybe they felt in even more danger with Biden coming in office. You don’t know what an upside down flag stands for?
But I bet it’s ok when Trump and company threaten judges, jurors, poor old women who count votes, . Because Trump. That’s a really innovative excuse for why he did it. But then again, you’ve been making excuses for Trump for a decade, so you’re getting good at it.Maybe Alito and his wife felt in danger with Schumer and others threatening Supreme Court Justices. You want to reconsider your decade comment? But I bet it’s ok when Trump and company threaten judges, jurors, poor old women who count votes, . Because Trump. You mad that she rounded up?You want to reconsider your decade comment?
Those aren’t GAAP principles. You mad that she rounded up?
It was January 17th. A week and a half after January 6th. Seems like a long time to wait to indicate dire distress or imminent danger if the reason was January 6th itself. You don’t know what an upside down flag stands for?
I agree. It’s very very weird. It's all very weird. Doesn't make much sense that it is news now and also doesn't make much sense in how Alito tries to explain what happened (at least in the way that story is written.)
Maybe his wife is dyslexic. I have a daughter who is.Alito, ever the chickenshit, blamed it on his wife.
Meanwhile, Thomas never discusses politics or cases with his "best friend."
She can. In fact, he can, too. It's just traditionally been considered unseemly for justices to act this way. But there's nothing wrong with it.Big nothingburger.
Did I use that correctly?
If Nancy Pelosi can claim that her husband has a right to trade stocks when she has information about legislation that affects those companies, why can't Alito's wife fly an upside down flag in response to her neighbor's signs that she feels are personal attacks?
Rights are only for the legislative branch?
It looks terribleShe can. In fact, he can, too. It's just traditionally been considered unseemly for justices to act this way. But there's nothing wrong with it.
Well, the Alitos appear to have some really great, wonderful, neighborly neighbors and all . . .It looks terrible
Yeah, it was dumb, but it's not the end of the world. Certainly no reason for him to recuse himself or anything like that.It looks terrible
So I take it you don't think Thomas should recuse either? Wives activities should have no impact?Yeah, it was dumb, but it's not the end of the world. Certainly no reason for him to recuse himself or anything like that.
I don't think justices should recuse only because their spouses are politically involved with one of the parties. A financial entanglement would raise my eyebrows more. I don't think Thomas should rule on a case that stands to earn his wife money. So I take it you don't think Thomas should recuse either? Wives activities should have no impact?
I think she's already earned hers.I don't think justices should recuse only because their spouses are politically involved with one of the parties. A financial entanglement would raise my eyebrows more. I don't think Thomas should rule on a case that stands to earn his wife money.
If he were to vote for her as a way of her coming through on a promise to someone who paid her for that result, then we're beyond questions of recusal, and into the realms of impeachment and then indictment.I think she's already earned hers.
FWIW, I appreciate this response. She can. In fact, he can, too. It's just traditionally been considered unseemly for justices to act this way. But there's nothing wrong with it.
No, why?You want to reconsider your decade comment?
I have no idea why he/she did it. But doesn’t everyone know the upside down flag is a sign of distress? It was January 17th. A week and a half after January 6th. Seems like a long time to wait to indicate dire distress or imminent danger if the reason was January 6th itself.
What do YOU think it means and what is the significance? IE, what do you think they were trying to convey and why does it matter?
Um. Because Supreme Court justices are supposed to be non political? Those two things are totally unrelated, but both wrong.Big nothingburger.
Did I use that correctly?

Did you read the article linked in the OP or are you just posting to post your side's POV?I have no idea why he/she did it. But doesn’t everyone know the upside down flag is a sign of distress?
Yes. I know why she said she did it. I was answering a question asked of me. Why does anyone post anything?Did you read the article linked in the OP or are you just posting to post your side's POV?
Rhetorical question.
Depends on if it’s a material amount or not. Those aren’t GAAP principles.
At least I and Farva can say what a woman is. That puts us way ahead of Justice Brown Jackson.See, COH and Farva are right. It’s always the women’s fault!
