Joke of a hire

He watched and learned as an assistant. He took a poor Drake program and built 20 win seasons and tournament championships. He turns WVU from terrible to being robbed of an NCAA bid.

He has never had the NIL he will have here. He has never had the draw of a school like IU and the B10. He has done well, but he now has the tools to raise his ceiling. What is his ceiling? We will find out in the next few years. One thing is he won't sit on his ass and we should have a positive recruiting process as opposed to what we have had back into the Archie era.

We need an energetic coach that works hard. We have one. I believe he can be successful here like he has been in other jobs.

If you think what DD this year at WV is a success, then go find Woody: exact same results. Being mediocre at a big boy school isn't exciting or a job well done.

Mediocre is better than sucking, true. But, IU just fired mediocre. Would DD do better at WV next year? He's a question mark. If he wants my support and ass in a seat, then just f'ing win.
Well, first and only year at WV. This was Woody’s fourth at the same place. Only fair comparison would be if DD was at WV for four years.

Google Cig and DD and tell me the difference. IU football is not the same as WV basketball: tell me which coach actually won big.

Dolson fired 19-13, 10-10 in the Big Ten and hired 19-13, 10-10 in a watered down Big 12. Woody arguably had a better year than DD!
Do you even watch basketball? The Big 12 is better than the Big 10 and he did that without his best player. WV won 9 games last year!

They only thing I know is this. If IU was willing to hire a guy like Beard he likely would have won big at IU but they are not willing to risk a hire like that. So they hire a guy like this since they were never getting stevens ever. He may work or may not but at least he has college experience unlike woodson the most baffling hire ever.

I’m sure Cignetti had his critics before IU fans saw what he could do on the field.

We shall see next year. DeVries will have his All-American son and $7M+ to spend in the portal (CBS reports), so he’s got the resources to turn this around in year one.
90% of this board didn’t know who Cignetti was and couldn’t locate James Madison on a map. They also wrote him off saying he’d never win with his JMU transfers.
Then, they realized that Dolson actually identified a guy that had a system and a culture that worked.
I’ll trust Dolson identified the same qualities here.
Now, some folks are upset because they learned that their Brad Stevens and Dusty May blow-up dolls came with a no-return policy and they’re in a dilemma about whether to keep them inflated or put them in storage. If Dusty May wanted to be here, he wouldn’t have signed his extension. He’s chose Michigan over IU. Brad Stevens has been out of coaching for a decade and is controlled by his family.
This is a 2-way street. The coach has to want to be here. Fans don’t want to believe it but there are good coaches that want no part of IU. We all love IU so this seems unconscionable to us but believe it not, they aren’t lining up around the block to get in here.
