Not even remotely comparable and you damn well know it. Trump was talking about the auto industry not a sitting President.
I thought the attacks against Trump made up partisan bullshit.

I also know--and indeed, cut, pasted, and linked--the common definitions for 86d, here. Any implication that Comey is calling for the assassination of the president is similar partisan bullshit.

What a complete POS. He must be arrested immediately. I'm sure the Dems will defend this though.

I’m no fan of Comey but I find impossible to believe he : a) did this thing with the shells, and b) is/was calling for something so ridiculous. He may be an ass but he’s not irredeemably stupid.

What’s next? Someone stepping on a bug and commenting, “should have been Trump.”?

They knew both knew exactly what it meant.

The idea that James Comey was genuinely threatening POTUS is ridiculous.

If he wanted to do that, do ya think he’d be doing it on social media for all the world to see?

So, no, he should absolutely not be arrested. It was a dumb, innocent mistake.

An old mob term was 86 'em to get rid of them, take them out of town 8 miles, put them 6 feet under.

Common burial plot is 8 feet wide, 6 feet deep.
That's not where it comes from. The term originated in restaurants and hotels in the early 20th century as slang for removing something from the menu. Eventually, it was extended to ejecting rowdy customers. Other aspects of American life have borrowed it since then, but it never had anything to do with murder.

Yes the origin may be different.
But became used by some in the mob.

Whatever. I'm just pointing out that it's not a death threat, which is what all the hand-wringers are claiming.

Some are arguing that it has been used as a death threat. In fact, that’s what caused Comey to delete it. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t know.

What I’m very sure is true is that Comey didn’t have that in mind when he posted this. He meant it in the way you’re saying: impeach him.

The idea that he would deliberately and knowingly make a death threat to POTUS or anybody else on social media is so preposterous that it could easily pass as satire.
