Only a little disturbance:

The anti-Trump protests were mostly peaceful, but in Lafayette, Indiana, police said a man driving a truck tried to make a turn at an intersection where protesters had gathered.

Demonstrators blocked him, and investigators said the man then confronted the protesters and one of those demonstrators allegedly head butted him.

The man got back into his truck and then returned holding what looked like a rifle. Police arrested the man, but later released him, saying he acted in self-defense, and never pointed his gun at another person.

Authorities are now looking for the protester who head-butted the man.

The videos I saw online most all of these people are white and mostly older boomers. The dems got this older white base that isn't going to be around too much longer. But I guess they still got really angry younger single white females.

How is leaving the scene and coming back with a rifle self defense?

Both the head butter and this idiot should be charged

Why does what they look like matter?

The content of the Trump objections is 90% vacuous drivel. It’s all neatly summed up with the moronic Tesla vandals.

Lots of reasonable complaints about this administration.

(1) DOGE execution has been less than stellar.

(2) Foreign policy dust up with Zelensky in the WH was embarrassing.

(3) Trump is overstepping his authority to pass tariffs, unilaterally, w/o Congress, to potentially upend the world economic order. I'd rank that as at least as bad as Biden's overreacting to try student loan relief, which was bad. He's also violating previous trade deals.

(4) The First Amendment issues with the Mahmoud Khalil arrest and deportation are troublesome, even if ultimately legal.

(5) Sloppiness of DOD et al. in the Signal, Houthi affair is bad, and no one has been punished for it.

(6) DOJ admitted they shipped a guy to an El Salvadoran prison mistakenly, against a previous judicial order from an immigration judge.

You might disagree with the severity of those issues, but they're all reasonable complaints. And there are more.

I sort of think we’re two countries in one. But there about 150 people protesting. It’s a metro of 3 million
And it’s the BIG STORY for the local affiliates and pathetic daily newspaper. This is despite the potential flooding and destruction from all the rain flowing into the Ohio River.

But, hey, let’s cover the small group of flakes with some signs, all of whom are unaware of what they exactly want hands to not be on.

These are all in the 90%. Yeah, lots of complaints about executing the game plan. I’m looking for a serious discussion about the game plan itself.

FWIW, we have had years if not decades of pearl clutching and national “conversations” about all kinds of issues. Trump is taking action. In some cases bold action. There has been some trial and error, particularly with DOGE. But the misdeeds have been mostly corrected, yet they have taken on perpetual existence in the minds of vacuous critics.

BTW, I don’t see a problem with #4. The first amendment is not a safe harbor for Khalil.

I think part of the idea was to have more protests in smaller, more GOP-friendly places. I saw a video of a small protest in Greensburg, IN.

I know some people who went to the one here in Indy. The weather was pretty crap, but the turnout seemed decent.

I'm definitely concerned with what's going on, but I'm not the protesting type anymore.

I also think it's funny that people are saying "they are old people". We heard the same dismissal from the Dem side during the Tea Party protests. Old people vote, and old people have money.

I’m sitting by the pool (with my top down @mcmurtry66 ). Too numerous to list:

1. Destruction of alliances that have lasted over a century;
2. The continual grift of his and his huckster family ;
3. The punishment of law firms;
4. The punishment of the press;
5. The lying at every turn. Latest example is the bullshit fake numbers admin claims existed when it is patently false;

Many others. It is a pity that nobody in the admin bothered to read David Ricardo.

Nobody gives a rat’s ass about protests any more; unless they turn destructive or are intended to be destructive in order to bring attention to themselves. I’ve seen demonstrators, protests, and pickets, frequently and I couldn’t tell what the problem was. There are simply too many protests. When our local grocer was on strike, which I didn’t know was coming, I walked up to a group standing around and asked them if they had Girl Scout cookies. The appearances were the same. We had a good natured laugh, I wished them well, but I also said I’m shopping at the picketed store because it was the closest to me.

I looked him up, I thought maybe he was the drummer in Ricky Ricardo’s band.

Here’s what I don’t understand about free trade. If we have a 20% tariff on Chinese goods, and they have a 20% tariff on our goods, is that free trade?

What if there is no tariff, either way, but China subsidizes production from the national treasury, and we don’t. Is that free trade? I’m thinking that there is more to free trade than the absence of tariffs.

Friedman’s response to your last point is that if the Chinese govt wants to subsidize the US consumer by providing us lower prices, we should let them.

So how, specifically, do you market these protests to Seniors? More Facebook and morning/evening news, and less Twitter, Gram, and Tik Tok? Feel like I saw advertisements for the planned protests all last week on Fox59 in the morning. 😄

I'd love to see the mechanics of the advertising.
