Jalen Windham

As a walk-on? He'd be a great addition to the team.

On a scholarship? That would be a move of desperation.

IU has a high 4* SG coming in for an official visit in Lester Quinones. Archie is trying to get a final in home visit with Watford. He's also still recruiting Beverly and that big guy from the east coast. Tre something maybe? Those are the types of players that he needs to close on with a scholarship. IU does have a lot (4 I think?) of open walk-on slots available and you can never have too many good walk-ons. They help mostly in practice obviously, but if one of them develops and actually earns some minutes, well that's just an awesome bonus.

That's accurate.

And to be fair, the coaches thought they'd have Hunter, so the requirement for a pure shooter might not have been as great......but Newman is higher rated and apparently the better shooter. I'm not as willing to give CAM the benefit of the doubt as I was then. We shall see.

Franklin is really good. Newman is too. They had almost identical offers. They had comparable statistics, although Franklin played against superior competition. Both will be really good additions to their chosen schools.

I agree. It's crazy to recruit a shooter with no decent offers and really no other skills that might not play until year 3. Don't we already have one of those guys in Damezi?

Did you look at the tape from the championship game? If so, I'd like you're honest opinion, rather than your troll response.

These schools already have transfer commitments: Washington; GT; Providence; USC; DePaul; SMU; S. Johns; Nevada; Wisconsin; Xavier; UCF.........We need to be as active this year as anyone.

From what I have read on here and another site alot of people who watched tape were not impressed with him. There is usually a reason you are not recruited by high major teams. I mean ok now he is available what other big names have reached out to him? If he really got so much better his senior season as those who say sign him up I am waiting to see alot more big names bang on his door!

Since some of you are not in favor of Windham, who would you bring in?

Are you aware of a guard transfer who has made several 3 pointers a game, shooting better than 37 percent for two years in a row, that can be admitted to IU's grad school program? He must have the size and strength to play in the big ten.

I don't know that Windham is the guy we should bring in but he isn't the bust some of you have made of him. I look forward to your names.

Did you even bother to read my post, which is just a few above yours??? IU is in on Beverly and he’s a much better player. He’s also a combo guard. IU just scheduled an OV with Quinones and he’s a high 4* SG. He’s also 6’ 5”. Archie is trying to get another in home visit with Watford. Then there’s the 4* C from out east, Tre something, and IU is in his final 5. Before you lecture the board, maybe bother to read the actual posts 1st. Also, offering Windham a scholly when all these higher rated guys are still in play would smack of desperation. On top of all of that, there are lots of grad transfers out there that would add more to the team than a guy that might not even make the IN all star team. Plus, IU wouldn’t be committed to them for 4 years. How many scholarships do you think Archie gets to hand out???

1) He's not a grad transfer that is proven to have made 37% and average 2 or more (I'm guessing this is what you mean by "several") 3 pointers per game at the college level. He's a high school senior. So why would we have name a grad transfer in his place?

2) I'd take Lester Quinones or Harlond Beverly over him. These are players that IU is also recruiting who would be freshmen next year.

3) I think Windham would be a good addition as a walk-on.

How do you know he is not a bust? Do you coach him? Just wondering how you are so wure he can come right in and play. You must have one heck of an eye for talent.

Sounds about right and the grad transfer marke will only grow bigger over the next several weeks.

Actually this kid is vastly underrated. Many in the Indy Metro area are talking about him as they talked about Aaron Henry last season. While I think IU is simply in the investigative stage, don't let the former GA State commitment fool you.
Have a friend who's son has played against him since they were younger. Said the jump he made from his jr. to senior year. Isn't showing up in the rankings.

Other talent scouts out there report that he is on the rise, he is a shooter that can make shots when defended.

Once again, Indiana may not do anything more than take a look at him, but I am certain that Archie has a pretty good eye for talent. If we can get a grad transfer that CAN MEET THE IU ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS, and fits a role, that would be the first place to look, but Windham might be a better option in the end then some of you are willing to accept. Just saying.

There's always the chance that we are only offering Preferred Walk-On status vs a full scholarship (with a shot at winning one down the road)...

Who outside of the basketball offices really knows for sure...?

btw,,,,if we get Brunk, someone else would have to transfer for JW or anyone else to come........nothing along those lines from the potential transferees other than Moore............are people still debating, or is the coaching staff trying to find soft places for people to land? Inquiring minds want to know..........

Did I miss something? Did Archie offer this kid a scholarship? Or did an assistant coach reach out to him? There are plenty of kids that are recruited but never offered. Heck, Indiana had Alex Hemenway in for Hoosier Hysteria, but never offered him (actually wished they would have). Everyone is getting up in arms about a kid that Indiana has not even offered. They could be just talking to him about being a preferred walk-on for all we know. That would still leave the precious scholarships open for a GT.

There was mention that TJD was lobbying him to come to IU....also, reference to what the coaches told him. Nothing was said anywhere about him being a walk-on. So I don't think they're looking at him for that. Coaches used to say occasionally, 'come in year 1 as a WO, and we'll give you a scholarship thereafter'. That doesn't seem to happen anymore.

What I don't understand about it from our viewpoint is that our coaches have presumably seen him play several/many times as they were chasing TJD around the HS & AAU circuits. It would seem that they would either want him or not, although he could be a 2nd or 3rd or 4th choice.

Ok I am convinced now sign this kid up or we will watch him go somewhere else and light it up from three for four years. He could be one heck of a player.
