Junior guard Dyandria Anderson is the only other Gator to have started in all 10 games of the season as she averages 5.2 points and a team-high 4.5 assists. Series History vs. Stony Brook
First Meeting

20 IN A ROW
Indiana continued the program's longest win streak on its home court on Saturday with an 84-59 win over Oakland. The 20-straight wins are also the sixth longest active streak in the NCAA as IU has put together a 6-0 record inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season.

WELCOME BACK TO THE SUNSHINE CLASSIC
Indiana returns to the Florida Sunshine Classic for the second-straight season when it faces off with Florida on Tuesday and Stony Brook on Wednesday. Last season, the Hoosiers dropped contests to Miami (75-89) and West Virginia (64-75) to wrap up non-conference play at Warden Arena.

GASSION WOWS ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Senior guard Alexis Gassion put together a career night against Oakland as she posted a double-double highlighted by a career-high 20 rebounds and 15 points. Her 20 rebounds were the most by an IU player since 1999 (Jill Chapman, 21) and tied for the seventh most in a single game in school history. She also turned in the tied for seventh best performance in a single game in the NCAA this season and tied the most in a single game in the Big Ten. In addition, the Fairborn, Ohio native added three assists, two steals and two blocks while committing just one turnover and zero fouls in 29 minutes of work.

FOUR TO SCORE
Indiana improved to 5-0 when four players score in double figures as it got another quartet of players to score in double figures in the win over Oakland on Saturday. Led by junior forward Amanda Cahill 's 17 points, she was joined by Gassion (15 points), junior guard Tyra Buss (12 points) and senior forward Jenn Anderson (12 points) to all score in double digits on the night.

BLOWOUT WINS
Seven of IU's eight wins have been by blowout fashion, by at least 25 points or more including a 25-point victory over Oakland on Saturday night. Indiana posted its largest win of 51 (100-49) over Northern Kentucky on Dec. 8 and in its current four-game win streak, the Hoosiers won by an average of 33.7 points per game.

GOOD FROM THE FIELD
Shooting 53 percent or better in six of 11 games this season, Indiana continues to be one of the leaders in field goal percentage this season. Their overall mark of 49.9 percent ranks fifth in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten.

48 AND COUNTING
Buss continues to reach new scoring heights as she extended her double-figure scoring streak to 48 games with 12 points on Saturday night against Oakland. She extended her streak - which dates back to her freshman season - and marks the 66th overall game she's reached double figures - out of the 75 games played in her career. She is now just one game shy of tying the all-time record of 49 consecutive double figure scoring games held by Karna Abram who did it between 1985-86 and 1986-87.

BUSS CAN CLIMB THE BOOKS
Tyra Buss officially moved into the top 10 in assists as she continues to mark her name all over the IU record book. Her six assists moved her career total to 290 and into No. 10 all-time, 10 shy of becoming the 10th person to ever record 300 assists in school history. She continues to sit at No. 16 in all-time scoring now has 1,189 points. She is also five steals away from reaching the top 10 in steals as she currently has picked 167 swipes in her career.

REACHING THE CENTURY MARK
IU scored 100 points for the first time since the 2014-15 season in the 100-49 win over Northern Kentucky. It was just the second time under third year head coach Teri Moren , whose team scored 115 points in her IU debut against Gardner Webb in 2014-15. Six players also scored in double figures led by 16 points from senior guard Karlee McBride . Cahill (14), Buss (14), sophomore forward Kym Royster (13) and Anderson (12) all recorded double-digits, also the first time since 2014-15 that IU has had six players score in double figures.

CAHILL NEARS 1,000
Amanda Cahill is close to becoming the 26th member of the 1,000 point club. Coming into the final two non-conference games of the season, the junior forward is 35 points shy (965) of reaching the 1,000 point threshold. She has already reached 600 career rebounds this season and would become the 14th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point and 600 rebound club. In addition, if Cahill reaches 1,000 points, she will join two active players on the roster who have reached the mark this season in Tyra Buss and Alexis Gassion . It would also be the first time three active players on IU's roster have all played together as members of the 1,000 point club.

CLEAN THE GLASS
Indiana posted another positive margin on the glass in Saturday's win over Oakland as it grabbed a new season-high 52 rebounds in the victory. It ties for the most rebounds in a game under IU head coach Teri Moren (52, vs. Gardner Webb). Their season rebounding margin of +10.6 is 25th in the nation and third in the Big Ten.

POINTS IN THE PAINT
Indiana continues to produce a majority of its points inside the paint this season as it scored a season-high 64 points against Northern Kentucky. It marked the sixth time this season IU has scored at least 44 points in the lane and reached 50 or more for the second time (50, vs. Presbyterian).

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
Indiana will meet its third Southeastern Conference foe on Tuesday when it takes on Florida at the Florida Sunshine Classic. IU's 94-61 victory over Vanderbilt on Nov. 13 marked the first time it has defeated an SEC foe in the regular season since 2006. The Hoosiers previously defeated SEC member Georgia in the first round of the NCAA tournament last season and are 1-1 against league opponents this season in non-conference play (Vanderbilt, Auburn and Florida)

UP NEXT
Big Ten play for the Hoosiers will begin on the road at Penn State on Dec. 28. Game time for the conference opener is set for 7 p.m. ET at the Bryce Jordan Center and will be live on BTN Plus.

Go Hoosiers!

IU begins final stretch of nonconference with Florida

by Jake Thomer

IU women's basketball has taken some lumps in the non-conference schedule, but with a four-game winning streak in progress, the Hoosiers will get a chance to score one last big win before Big Ten play when they battle Florida Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

The Hoosiers are 8-3 but have lost their last two road games against Power 5 schools. While Tuesday's game against the 7-3 Gators isn't a true road game, Florida has a geographic advantage playing at the Florida Sunshine Classic in Winter Park, Florida. Florida's campus is a little more than 100 miles away, while the Hoosiers are visiting their sixth different state in less than two months.

IU is still looking for a signature non-conference win, and with Florida ranked 22nd in the RPI, the matchup will present a quality opportunity to pick up that statement victory. Against previous opponents in the top 100, the Hoosiers struggled with defense and foul trouble.

IU's appeared to have sharpened up on both sides of the ball during its four-game win streak. The Hoosiers haven't allowed more than 59 points or turned the ball over more than 13 times in any of their last three contests.

Against Florida, IU will likely continue to prioritize controlling the boards. The Gators average about 45 rebounds per game behind senior forward Ronni Williams' team-leading 8.3 per game.

The Gators shoot the ball well overall, but not from distance. Florida is hovering around 26 percent mark from three this season, which should allow the Hoosiers to pack bodies in the paint to prevent easy layups and offensive rebounds.

On the other end of the court IU will need its run of strong shooting to continue. The Hoosiers enter the game with the nation's fourth-best field goal percentage, 50 percent, with much of that success coming from its post players. Senior forward Jenn Anderson is shooting 63 percent from the floor and sophomore forward Kym Royster boasts a 60 percent field goal rate.

Florida has just nine players who've registered minutes this season, and only seven who play more than 13 minutes per game. IU's up-tempo offense could conceivably wear down the Gators.

After a home win over Oakland on Saturday, IU Coach Teri Moren said in her postgame press conference she is still concerned with her team's ability to play a complete game. In the blowout wins IU has registered lately, sloppy fourth quarters have only served to change the margin of victory for the Hoosiers.

A fourth-quarter collapse against Florida would likely lead to a repeat of the loss at Auburn last month, and rob IU of a signature win that could boost its tournament resume.

Indiana had 5 players in double digits and went deep into their bench to give most all of the players some game time in the rotation. Buss lead all scorers with 35 points, Cahill had a double-double while Gassion and Anderson each contibuted solid all-around games.
Indiana had a good offensive night. The defense might have faultered a bit late as a rotation of 6 players dominated the minutes. It will be interesting to hear what CTM has to say.

Starters Guide IU Women’s Basketball to 102-88 Victory over Florida at Florida Sunshine Classic

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Indiana's starting lineup accounted for 94 points as it picked up the 102-88 victory over Florida on Tuesday night at the Florida Sunshine Classic at Warden Arena. With the win, the Hoosiers improved to 9-3 overall on the 2016-17 season.

Junior guard Tyra Buss posted her second-ever 30-plus point game with a game-high 35 points paired with five assists, a steal and a block. She led the entire starting five to score in double figures, including a new season-high 21 points for junior forward Amanda Cahill who finished the night with a double-double as she added a team-high 10 points.

Buss made her living on Tuesday night at the free throw line as she went 19-for-20 from the line – all in the first half – as she set new single game records at Indiana and in Big Ten. Her 19 made free throws are the second-most in a single game in the NCAA this season. She also reached another career mark as her 11 points in the first quarter were enough to help her to 49th consecutive double-figure scoring game which ties the all-time school record held by Karna Abram from 1984-85 and 1985-86.

Senior guard Alexis Gassion added 15 points along with a season-high eight assists and added six rebounds to go along with a block and a steal. Senior forward Jenn Anderson also added 12 points and eight rebounds while senior guard Karlee McBride also added 11 points in the victory.

Collectively, Indiana's night was made at the line, shooting 93.8 percent in the win and the fifth-best single game performance from the charity stripe in school history going 30-for-32. IU also shot 48.4 percent from the field in the win – its first victory over Florida (7-4) since 1981 and second win over an SEC school this season.

Freshman guard Ria Gulley and Cahill helped open the IU lead with back-to-back three pointers to go up 14-7 with 5:41 to play in the first quarter as Florida called a timeout. Indiana made itself at home at the free throw line in the opening period, going 14-for14 in the first 10 minutes in thanks to an 8-for-8 performance from Buss. It helped IU to a 34-17 lead after one quarter as Buss laid on five more free throws to open the second quarter.

It was Buss again who helped the Hoosiers double up the Gators after one of her two triples on the night and added another pair at the line to go up 51-25 with 3:57 to play. IU would go into the locker room at the half up 57-32, the most points scored in a half this season.

Back-to-back threes by McBride opened up the third quarter but IU went cold from the field for the next 3:12 as Florida went on an 8-3 run. Anderson and Buss responded with back-to-back buckets with 4:12 to play and IU would finish off the third on a 10-3 run to take an 83-58 advantage headed into the fourth quarter. Florida would win the final quarter, 30-19, but it wasn't enough as Indiana held on for the 14-point victory.

NOTES
With her 11 first quarter points, junior guard Tyra Buss tied the school record of consecutive double-figure scoring games with 49. She ties Karna Abram who scored 49 consecutive double-figure games between 1984-85 and 1985-86. Buss finished the game with 35 points including a 19-for-20 clip from the free throw line.
Buss also broke the IU and Big Ten single game records for free throws made with her 19-for-20 performance. IU's previous record stood at 17 (Jori Davis, 2011) and the Big Ten record previously stood at 18 (Kelsey Mitchell, 2016 and Carol Szczechowski, 1990).
Buss's 19 made free throws in a single game are the second-most by any player in the NCAA this season (Larissa Larkin, 22)
Junior forward Amanda Cahill recorded her 22nd career double-double with 21 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
IU's 57 first half points were the most in a single game this season and the most under third-year head coach Teri Moren.
Their 102 points were also a season-high as Indiana has posted to two 100-point scoring games in the same season for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Indiana's nine turnovers were the second fewest in a game this season.
IU also picks up a top 25 RPI win on Tuesday night – as Florida held the No. 21 RPI in the country coming into the game. The Gators are also receiving votes in both national polls.

IUWBB: Hoosiers beat Stony Brook, 74-60
December 21, 2016, by Jon Blau

Indiana juniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill had big nights Wednesday in a 74-60 win over Stony Brook in the Florida Sunshine Classic.

Cahill reached 1,000 career points in the contest, the third Hoosier to reach that marker this non-conference season. Along with Buss and senior Alexis Gassion, IU has three 1,000-point scorers on its roster for the first time in program history. Cahill finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds and six assists Wednesday, the 23rd double-double of her career.

Buss, the Hoosiers’ All-Big Ten point guard, scored 10 of her team-high 15 points in the first quarter and reached double figures scoring for the 50th consecutive game. That breaks the IU record of 49 previously set by Karna Abram in the mid-1980s.

As a team, IU shot 54 percent from the field. Gassion and fellow seniors Jenn Anderson and Karlee McBride each finished with 10 points.

Stony Brook (5-6) didn’t challenge IU’s offense, for the most part. The Hoosiers shot 61 percent from the field in the first half and led 41-27. On the other hand, the Seawolves 38 percent from the field and 1-of-11 from 3-point range through two quarters.

Moren risked leaving Buss on the floor with two fouls, and she picked up her third with 4:48 remaining in the second quarter. Stony Brook outscored the Hoosiers by only three points while Buss was on the bench.

The Seawolves did make a run, though, in the third quarter. IU led 54-36 with 2:46 left before Stony Brook went on an 8-0 run. Then Buss buried a 3 with a second left to rebuff the Seawolves’ surge. Jenn Anderson opened up the fourth with two buckets to rebuild the lead.

This is a positive showing for IU at the Florida Sunshine Classic. Last year, the Hoosiers lost to Miami and West Virginia, two NCAA tournament teams, at the two-day tournament. This year, IU went 2-0, following up Tuesday’s 102-88 win over Florida (8-4) with another victory.

IU now moves into BIg Ten play, opening up at Penn State on Dec. 28. Penn State finished 10-2 in its non-conference schedule with a 80-67 win over Iona on Tuesday. The Lady Lions were 6-12 in conference play in 2015-16, including 2-7 at home.

Cahill Scores 1,000th Point, Buss Breaks Another Record as IU Downs Stony Brook

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Junior forward Amanda Cahill became the 26th member of the 1,000 point club and junior guard Tyra Buss set the new school record for consecutive double-figure scoring games as Indiana wrapped up non-conference play Wednesday with a win over Stony Brook, 74-60, at the Florida Sunshine Classic.

Cahill finished the night with 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds as she posted her 23rd career double-double to go along with six assists, two blocks and two steals. She became the third player to score 1,000 points this season to feature an IU roster with three active 1,000 point scorers for the first time in school history.

Buss also put her name again in the IU record books, posting her 50th-straight double figure scoring game with a team-high 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting to go along with four assists and a steal. The Mt. Carmel, Ill. native takes over the previous record of 49 consecutive double-figure scoring games from Karna Abram who did it between 1984-85 and 1985-86. She now has recorded 68 games of her 77 game career in double digits.

For the second-straight night, Indiana (10-3) saw all five of its starters score in double figures as senior guards Alexis Gassion and Karlee McBride and senior forward Jenn Anderson all recorded 10 points in the victory. Gassion also added five assists, three rebounds and a steal while McBride scored nearly all of her points behind the arc, with her 17th career game with three 3-pointers (3-for-7). IU combined for a 54.4 field goal percentage – the seventh time it has shot 50 percent or better this season.

The Hoosiers would also win the battle on the boards, taking the advantage 34-26 and dished out 20 assists on 31 made shots.

Cahill opened up the scoring for IU on the night with a 3-pointer from the wing. One of Gassion's five assists went down low to Anderson on the right side as IU would go on an 8-0 run capped by a transition layup for Buss gave IU a 11-4 lead with 5:54 to play. In a scoring drought of sorts, the Hoosiers were held without a field goal for a little over three minutes near the end of the period as Cahill got them back on the board with 53 ticks left. Despite the drought, IU led 23-12 after one quarter shooting 62.5 percent

In the second quarter, Buss set the new school record for consecutive double-figure scoring games with 8:16 remaining as she got the feed from Cahill as IU took a 29-16 lead. It was part of a 8-0 run that featured Indiana's largest lead of the half as a Cahill pick found Gassion open in transition for the left handed layup to go up 19 (35-16) with 5:48 remaining.

Despite Buss picking up her third foul with a little under five minutes to play in the half, the Hoosiers continued to keep the Seawolves (5-6) at bay. Back-to-back triples with under two minutes to play helped Indiana take a 41-27 lead at the break. SBU opened up the second half to cut it under double digits before McBride responded with one of her three triples of the night with 8:34 left in the third.

Cahill officially hit the 1,000 point mark with 6:30 to play in the third quarter as she got the ball dumped down to her waiting underneath from Gassion. Both teams would fall into a drought for nearly three minutes following that before IU extended the lead back up to 17 (53-36). Stony Brook, however, would close the quarter strong, on an 8-0 run before Buss's buzzer beater 3-pointer gave the Hoosiers a 57-44 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

Anderson helped IU open up the final period as she got into double figures on a dish from senir guard Tyshee Towner led her to the rim. The Seawolves would get no closer than 13 in the final 10 minutes of play as Indiana secured its final non-conference win of the season.

NOTES
Junior forward Amanda Cahill recorded her 1,000th career point in Wednesday's win, becoming the 26th member of the IU 1,000 point club. She finished the night with 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds which also marked her 23rd career double-double.
With her 10 first half points, junior guard Tyra Buss set the school record for consecutive double-figure scoring games with her 50th-straight game in double figures. She takes over the record from Karna Abram who did it 49-straight times in 1984-85 and 1985-86.
Buss also moved up on the all-time scoring list, eclipsing 1,200 career points as she now sits with a career total of 1,239 (No. 16 all-time). She is just one point shy of reaching the top 15 in all-time scoring (Whitney Thomas, 1,240).
With Cahill joining the 1,000 point club, IU's roster now features three active 1,000 point scorers for the first time in school history with Buss (1,240), Gassion (1,102) and Cahill (1,000) all hitting the career mark 13 games into the season.
With her 10 points, senior guard Alexis Gassion reached 1,102 career points as she moved into 20th on the all-time scoring list.
Buss, Cahill and Gassion were all named to the Florida Sunshine Classic following Wednesday night's win.
For the second-straight game, Indiana saw all five starters score in double figures. IU is now 3-0 when at least five players score in double figures.
The Indiana defense held Stony Brook's leading and third leading scorers to just a combined five points.
The Hoosiers are now riding a six-game win streak into Big Ten play next week. It's the longest win streak since the 2013-14 season.
IU's 10 wins in non-conference play tie for the most under third year head coach Teri Moren who also notched 10 wins in her first season at the helm (2014-15).
