IU out

Are you referring to the "choking program" the reached title game last season? I can't stand Purdue, but at least they haven't missed the NCAAT 70% of the time in the last decade.

People who live in glass houses...
Yes, I am. And it is...I would think quite obviously so...in reference to the Purdue troll referencing season long resume's as the best way to predict post season success via seeding, versus results later in the season.

I'm Fairly certain IU has never lost to a 17 seed... as an example.

As a fan, I'd kill for Purdue's résumé the last 10 years (or more). I know that includes FDU and a few other 1st Round blunders, but Boiler fans have left smiling after games far more than IU fans.

But I agree with you about trolling ... anyone who posts on a rival's board needs to get a life.

Don't go much further back than 10 years...IU's results were as good or better if you start 10 years back and prior.

But for sure...last 10 years... 4 B10 regular season titles, 1 BTT championship, 3 sweet 16s, 1 elite 8, 1 Natty game. So decent to good to great tourney runs half the time, basically... good teams every year. Its admirable...especially compared to what IU has done.

But, on the flip side of that... UALR first round loss, North Texas first round loss, St Peters loss, Fairly Dickinson loss... that's a lifetime's worth of really big choke jobs, in just a decade's worth of time.

So...I wouldn't "kill" for those results. Kansas 10-20 year run through last year... I might consider offing someone to get that for IU. But what Purdue did had a pretty ugly downside to it.

Purdue has never lost to a 17-seed, at least according to the NCAA. They only recognize 1-16. Purdue has never been part of the play-in group, IU recently has been.

As I posted, a while ago it was posted here citing RMK's losses to double-digit seeds was surprising large. I had forgotten that was true. You may point out that IU has not lost to a 16, which is true. However, the difference between losing to a 14 or 15 vs. a 16 seems to me to be a distinction without a significant difference. And I really doubt that it was a significant difference to the fans of the losing teams in those respective games.

Many analysts have cited HPU as one of the best choices to pick if you are looking for a mid-major to pull an upset in the first round. Given that fact, your post claiming a fantastic draw for Purdue is somewhat silly. But given your history is hardly surprising.
Celebrate a good draw and more importantly to Purdue fans...IU snubbed. Run to IU board

Glad to see the downgrade of draw from "fantastic" to "good." Given the projections made over the last 2-3 weeks, the best adjective is likely "expected." Actually, I saw IU as borderline but would get the nod so I was moderately surprised by the outcome. I believe non-con strength flipped the coin the wrong way.

Get amazing draw in NCAA… run to IU board sobbing for recognition multiple times a day

You are correct to not judge based on just the early seasonal results. That is why I cited the total season. You may like what you may like, but if you are looking for a gauge of performance, which was cited and to which I responded, then math says that the larger sample set is likely to be more representative. Your argument is not with me, it is with math.

You might like to bet on longshots over favorites, but math tells you that they are respectively longshots and favorites for good reason.
I'm not arguing with you or math. Purdue doesn't have any momentum heading into the tournament. If they want to make a run, they will have to generated some momentum.

You can pick all the stats you want to satisfy whatever makes you comfortable. You do you, brother.

Anyone that says that selection is tipped by SOS and Quad games is a liar. Maybe getting in is as easy as getting that 20th W. WV should have been in. We killed ourselves with too many blowout losses and too many underwhelming Q4 wins.

But woodson sure did beat up on the cupcakes!

Going forward I hope we get rid of most of the cupcakes. I don't think it does us any good.

Is it possible? Those are the pay-to-play home games that pay for Assem ---Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
5- 10 Q4 seems to be universal. I agree; I don't think we should ever play anyone ranked worse than 250, but it is what it is.

It's the opposite. IU pays those teams to come in and be our practice players. It's a big part of the athletic finances for small school teams.

I understand it's a benefit to the small schools but do we really need to play so many?

I think there should be a bigger window or number of exhibition games permitted in the fall (not my original idea, saw this suggested on some sports show the other day). Teams could benefit by playing other good teams early and figuring out lineups that work, without having it count in their season win/loss record. Then it wouldn't have to be all cupcakes.

I guess I'm old school. Play a couple of tune up games and then get serious.
