Brad Stevens not a candidate

He asked what do other schools have that IU doesn’t. IU has elite facilities. UNC identified Doherty and Davis as good coaches. UK identified Gillespie as a good coach. L’ville identified Payne as a good coach. Archie, Crean, and Sampson all had better resumes when IU than those coaches when they were hired by their respective schools. I for one would not want UNC’s or UK’s or L’ville’s administration to choose IU’s next bball coach.
Why not? Pat Kelsey and Mark Pope look like good hires so far.

IU’s facilities are OK but nothing like what some other schools have.

Get ready for Randy Wittman, folks! IU is not a destination job for top coaches. Bob Knight was Indiana basketball. The program died when he left. There is nothing institutionally that creates an environment for coaches to have success, unlike a Kansas or Kentucky.
Steve Alford has a closing window of opportunity here.

Technically...he forwarded on something he heard from sources from another source. I don't think there's a direct quote from Stevens saying he has zero interest in IU job, or that he isn't considering it. Just that he's happy in Boston.
His wife and daughter run the show and they want nothing to do with B-town.
He was never a serious candidate. They’ve asked him 2x before and Tracy and Kelsey said “hell no are we moving back there.”

Hubert Davis?

Guy will probably lose his job soon.
Yeah, that is what the fans are calling for, 2 years from taking them to the championship game (would've won if Bacot hadn't got hurt). Coaches life span gonna get smaller every year. Thought process is you can turn program around in 1 year with right coach & NIL purchases. (Except for IU BB)

Yep, all fell apart from his departure. A smooth transition to another good coach may have preserved the program, kept a winning tradition.

Should have fired Woodson last year and hired May. Maybe still a chance, but that’s who I have been wanting. We will probably hire some rando BS coach. Or a proven mediocre. We haven’t been good at this.

Not sure Gillespie couldn’t have been a really good coach. He had a lot of personal issues.

So tired of Stevens coming up. Nice guy successful college coach accomplished in NBA (not a fan) but he obviously could care less about IU. Great for him to engineer an NBA championship but really sick of him being regarded as the Next Coming. Boeheim accomplished more in CBB and there's no way I'd ever want Boeheim.

Hire Chris Beard. Take the pr heat and move on. IU has been irrelevant for 30 years.

Elite facilities and an administration that knows how to identify and hire good coaches.

I don't think our facilities are that bad and I don't think they are the problem especially now with NIL, otherwise we don't get Ware, Ballo and several others.

We don't know how Dolson will do with this hire IF he is not interfered with.
He did pretty good on his own with his football hire.

I will go with my second option, you just like to bitch.

The institutional ineptitude of the administration is what holds IU back. The administration hired bad coaches. The administration neglected facilities upgrades for too long.
Good grief Chicken Little: take a break and go for a walk or something.

Due diligence starts with getting turned down by Brad Stevens...and fortunately....for the last time. IU doesn't need to kiss the ring any more.....Two things haven't happened since RMK was fired: IU hasn't hired the right coach and Brad Stevens isn't coaching at Indiana. When Stevens said IU was his dream job....he was taken way too seriously. A compliment isn't a marriage proposal. Now hire the best available high level coach who wants the job.
If Stevens is out, AD Dolson needs to decide if May or Beard is the better coach. I give the small edge to Beard. However, I could see either doing well.

People like Rabjohns of peegs need to quit dismissing Beard like they know all about him and whatever happened with his ex.
