Yeah! People need to stop mentioning him every time there’s a HC opening at Indiana. I wouldn’t ask him ever again. Focus on guys that want the position.
Being turned down by Brad Stevens in no way means IU is not a destination job.

He was never a serious candidate. They’ve asked him 2x before and Tracy and Kelsey said “hell no are we moving back there.”
Yeah, that is what the fans are calling for, 2 years from taking them to the championship game (would've won if Bacot hadn't got hurt). Coaches life span gonna get smaller every year. Thought process is you can turn program around in 1 year with right coach & NIL purchases. (Except for IU BB)
Yep, all fell apart from his departure. A smooth transition to another good coach may have preserved the program, kept a winning tradition.
If the powders that be aren’t completely incompetent or intentionally avoiding a powerhouse program again they would without a doubt hire Beard.
Not sure Gillespie couldn’t have been a really good coach. He had a lot of personal issues.

So tired of Stevens coming up. Nice guy successful college coach accomplished in NBA (not a fan) but he obviously could care less about IU. Great for him to engineer an NBA championship but really sick of him being regarded as the Next Coming. Boeheim accomplished more in CBB and there's no way I'd ever want Boeheim.

We don't know how Dolson will do with this hire IF he is not interfered with.

If Stevens is out, AD Dolson needs to decide if May or Beard is the better coach. I give the small edge to Beard. However, I could see either doing well.
People like Rabjohns of peegs need to quit dismissing Beard like they know all about him and whatever happened with his ex.

Indiana is a research school w med and law schools...hospitals...internationally renowned in many areas (music, education, dentistry, journalism, etc.). Kelley.

Indiana isn’t much different than Mississippi politically. They vote close to the same.
Exactly. I'm an Auburn alum and Indiana raised. I live in Alabama. Alabama is as close to Mississippi as you're going to get without being in Mississippi. Our politics are similar to Indians but Alabamians just don't GAF as long as you're 'a god fearing man' and can coach football. There just isn't much concern for ethics or morals.
There’s a direct correlation between “God, guns and country” mentality and how people vote. Mississippi may be a little more so, but not enough to affect coaching hires. Individual university administrations may be different though.
Politics has nothing to do with it. Even if it did....IU's politics aren't the same as the state in general. This comes down to the university's image....and whether or not the coaching prospect compliments that image or not. Bob Knight was considered a "bully" by many in the university and the media (accurate or not). I think IU is a bit gun shy about hiring anyone who might be considered a "bully"....especially when there is a female on the receiving end of it. In Beard's case....there is also an element of "recency". The event in question happened just shy of 3 years ago. That isn't alot of time to distance him from it media-wise. I am not providing an opinion on whether or not Beard should be hired....Rather, hilighting the rub of his candidacy.

Right. That's one reason why Beard will never fly here. There'd be protests in the streets.
I’m just not sure that the town the school is located in makes that much difference. I live in ATL and I don’t get the impression the very liberal Athens has much say about UGA. Again, obviously individual administrations obviously do.
