IU Eighth in Big Ten Power Rankings (Detroit News)

With Sud and Howard out we had MUCH more to gain. No way we get hopelessly blown out like we did with those guys playing.

But they were playing without their top back and with an OL decimated by injuries. Not saying Sudfeld and Howard wouldn't have mattered, but their guys would have matter, too.

IU finished about 8th in most rankings as evidenced at these sites. What gets me is that until IU won the bucket and a bowl bid, virtually all of these sites had them about 12th. This is after playing tOSU, UM, Iowa, MSU tough. And all of these rankings had Illinois ranked higher than IU, sometimes 2 or 3 spots above, until the last week. I just don't understand all the love Illinois got even though the only decent win they had was 14-13 over Nebraska. They hung within 8 or 9 points of Iowa. Other than that, nothing impressive.

maybe it had more to do with how many of the teams ranked ahead of us lost their last game while we won ours.
