Is it a fact that Beard truly wanted the position? There’s the alternative theory that Beard’s agents played Ole Miss like a fiddle and bluffed them by floating his name for the IU job, which resulted in Beard informing Ole Miss that he would stay at the school, and is set to receive a raise and more resources for staff and a stronger NIL package.
The vagina hat brigade at IU would have had a fit if Beard had been hired.
If Pearl had been hired by some miracle, the anti-Jewish Hamas supporters from Dunn Meadows would have formed a blockade at SSAH.

I would honestly expect at least 20 wins next year. I think the coach we got is going to place a heavy emphasis on culture and that is going to bring a cohesive unit. It’s huge. That was also the formula with Cignetti. Establish culture and expectations from Day 1. Crucial in the portal era to get guys that come from from a variety of schools locked in with one mindset and completely understanding the standard.
From everything I heard, yes Beard wanted the job. Is it a fact? Nope. I doubt that Pearl would have caused much of a stir. Beard, definitely. It’s why no one else has hired him either.
This has been repeated so many times without it being true. Arkansas, Maryland, and Texas AM all wanted Coach Beard.

Sure.....Beard might very well have wanted the IU job....as well as the Ark Little-Rock job, Texas job, the Texas A&M job and the Old Miss job. We're not sure about the other 347 D1 schools.....he might have wanted those too.

I'm not fretting over 1 guy, I'm just saying I understand why folks are disappointed and on and IU board I think it's reasonable for that to be discussed. Personally, I'm guessing since it's his last go 'round he just wanted to be on a team that 1) will pay him, and 2) advance as far as possible in the tournament. Something he's never done before. Lville obviously has a big leg up on us in that regard.
I only wanted Tucker. The others with the skill had other issue that I didn’t think would translate.
Why is it reasonable to be disappointed now? Let CDD get his players & let's see how the chips fall before deciding if this class is any good or not? Once IU BB has a full roster, then, "we" can decide if the roster is any good or not? Right? Until then, let's let "the man" do his job.
