Obviously the new Coach gets to pick and Organize his entire Coaching Staff. Does that also apply to the Strength and Conditioning Staff? The reason I'm asking is that it became obvious as the Year went on that We were getting beat or outmuscled way too often on loose balls, contested rebounds, and didn't have the power or explosiveness to play through contact on shots near the basket. IMO, that Whole program needs to be re-staffed or revamped to produce better results.

Were we getting beat physically or mentally? Someone had a saying about that.

"I'm tired of losing to Purdue!"

I only toss that in because the post reminded me of when Keady first got his guys really muscled up, lol. Indiana was behind that approach for awhile.

I also wonder who's in charge of the weight room and conditioning. I assume each major sport has their own head person at least? Sport specific.

Archie’s little buddy needs to be sent packing. If I never see any more tug of war in the sandpit and those stupid oiled up glamour shots, I’ll be fine. Also forget about the “he’s increased his vertical to 42-inches from 22 when he got here!”

I think that had far more to do with the head coach and the culture and overall effort he tolerated.

my best friend is convinced Ol cliffy is the reason we sucked at shooting. Players come in and get worse because of his strength workouts.
Apparently turning over farm tractor tires for 40 yards, lifting and turning over empty refrigerators, and dead lifting 100 pound anvils doesn't improve your shooting stroke.

That and the god stuff. I am a catholic, but man I can't stand all the God pushing either. Show you love god without blasting it in everyones face. Over the top people I have huge reservations about.

As a former personal trainer and strength coach, I wouldn’t think that’s the case. You would have to lose lots of flexibility. Shooting is a lot about confidence. It just felt confidence often went down. Some of that was probably because they didn’t feel like they were valued. Kids need constant encouragement. Woody was use to NBA guys who you don’t have to mentally message. Bryson Tucker was a good example. He looked like a stud in month one and not just due to the competition. He hit tough and challenged shots. Then it got worse and worse.

I disagree. I don’t know if Marshall was great at his job but many of the players and parents loved that guy. He seemed to be good at developing some team chemistry stuff, at least off the court. Parents also trusted him in part because he is a man of faith.

I’m sure he was a great guy, and I’m sure that’s why we kept him. Think his strength program was horrid.

There were a ton of injuries during Cliff Marshall's time at IU. It's difficult to link the 2, but it seems more than reasonable to start anew now that all of the players are gone.
Seems that way but I don’t know if we really had more injuries than other programs. Are there stats on that anywhere?

Edit: LOL T. DeVries and C. Enright already listed here with shoulder injuries.

I'd say your friend is probably on to something there. It's been insane how many "shooters" we've gotten over the years that somehow forgot how to shoot. Your buddy Romeo might be a case study.

I think we kept him because Woodson didn't want to spend the time or effort to put anyone else in. That's why we kept "Kenyan" as a holdover and didn't replace anyone else on staff from the outside. It was the easy button whenever it was there to push.

Yep. My main man woody was a lazy guy.

Yeah, they didn’t seem to gain noticeable size or evade injuries. Cignetti’s guy made a noticeable difference on the football side.

If CDD has kept Ryan Horn at each stop, he must be pretty good.
