It's a real shame Justin Smith has to play so much

Yeah and if he doesn't over-help then people on here will say he doesn't help on defense. It's all about the loud mouth little crybabies on here.

Also: Justin Smith's PER in conference games this year: 10.4

Josh Newkirk's average in 2 years of conference games at IU: 10.2

Smith's has been the worst among the regulars not named McRoberts this year. And McRoberts shouldn't be playing right now. At all. Smith might be better suited coming off the bench, but I wouldn't say he shouldn't play.

We call that the Newkirk Line. It's where the severe suckage starts.

I’d like to see Smith with good coaches. I think he could thrive in the right system.
lol ... Dunning Kruger speaks again.

You are by far one of the worst posters to ever post on this board.

What is this "you morons" shit? I just said that there's a lot of blame to go around. Morgan's defense against Northwestern and Purdue was lackluster. Phin's decision making against NW was lacking. But...

Morgan's shooting percentages: .611/.391/.587

Smith's shooting percentages: .553/.273/.587

What's more, Morgan's percentages have improved every year. Smith's are worse this year.

And unlike some other folks, I haven't called for more Anderson or Moore. They couldn't defend at all, although Moore seems to be making strides. Smith defends well when engaged.

Passing? Smith's assist percentage is 5.3 Morgan's is 17.9.

Turnovers? Smith's TO% is 21.6, and is actually worse than last year. Morgan's is 14.9%

Morgan already leads the team in shots taken in conference games. What do you want him to do, grab the ball out of the net after a make and try to put it in again? Your puzzling defense of Justin Smith alone, at the detriment of the other players is peculiar.

Great post.......I have nothing against Smith.......just wish he played better.

I went back and looked at his you tube travel video highlights....pretty impressive. Mostly dunks and put backs, but also drives to the basket and some outside shooting. Her certainly looked like a prospect.

If Brooks is another low motor guy he won't do anything until maybe as an upperclassmen...maybe.

Romeo is twice the talent Brooks is but he can't fight through screens on defense, can't get back (unless he's truly the slowest guy on the team) and is too easily bullied on offense.

So I hope Brooks has a fire in him. I don't know if he does or not.
Low motor, high motor, it all can change once they have to play at a much faster speed against a team of talented players.

I like that these elite players come in with high praise, but they start all over when they go up a level. I am hopeful they will be immediate stars, but they have to prove themselves like everyone else.

and the transition for bigs takes twice as long.
