Israel under attack from Hamas

I think the Vikings were more civilized.

She deserved it for being a colonizer if you are one extreme out there or she deserved it because Jews if you are the other.

The past 3 weeks have served to harden my position on several topics and is causing me to reevaluate my political connections to others based on things they have said directly or those who support them in other cases. Supporters of Hamas or deniers of what happened aren't on my team and I don't give a flying f--- if they believe they are on the left or right. They are on the wrong.

Let's be blunt. If you support Hamas then you are supporting murderers of innocents, rapists and baby decapitators. This isn't a war scenario. This is just plain ole evil.

And if your empathy for Palestinians getting bombed does not also include the ability to criticize Hamas, I got nothing for you either.

Here is where I deviate though, I know I am not on the side of the Progressives. The left is doing what the left is gonna do IMO. I am not shocked in any way, shape, or form with them. I have always believed that there was a rump on the "right" who were right there with them. I believe I have vastly underestimated the amount of people who would say they are on "my side" who hold viewpoints that are abhorrent to me. Jackson Hinkle is a name I had never flipping heard of up until 3 weeks ago. The amount of supposed Trump aligned righties I see linking to that guy and his crap and/or some ex MMA dude (Jake Shields) or posting videos of Nick Fuentes and talking conspiracy theory nonsense...that isn't my right.

I don't completely agree with the neocons or the establishment GOP on a host of issues but if allying with Trump means I have to join myself to twats like that, I'm out. And based on the comments from those people over this dust up, they view me through the same lens as the leftists anyway.

Virtually all Trump supporters are rooting for Israel it's just that many want the US to stay the hell out of it. Maybe provide some weapons and funding if they need it but only the neocons like Haley wants us involved in another neverending war.

I respectfully suggest you spend some time on Twitter looking around. There is a sizable portion of people who got their Hitler-stache hidden behind their "I just don't want involved in it." That Jackson Hinkle dude I mentioned has post praising Stalin and Soleimani and he is getting retweeted by a whole bunch of "isolationists". And his popularity score was higher on the site than Elon Musk this weekend.

It is ugly man. I can't criticize the leftists for thinking that way if I am going to have those folks hitched to my wagon too.

That’s a fact, and it is ugly. Of those I’ve seen on the right, it would be very hard to find one who isn’t a Trumpster. The form of “America First” isolationism prevalent in that crowd is a non-starter to me. I’m totally good with keeping America’s interests first, but that’s not what that ugly stuff is.

I’m sure you’re not saying the ugly things that Crazy and I were talking about.
I never heard of Jackson Henkel. He is not relevant. I have no problem piling on with leftist criticism while posting my agreement with many Trump initiatives. Everywhere you look, the United States is on an unsustainable course, all of it is at the feet of leftists. Trump? He was on the right track with energy, crime, border, immigration, and most importantly in view of the last couple of weeks, Iran. Biden f*cked up all of it. I have no idea why the progressives support such a regressive right wing organization as Hamas. Germany had to be destroyed to get rid of Nazis. We can’t get rid of Hamas without a destruction of the Gaza civil structure. Even with that, I have my doubts so long as Biden continues to give Iran a pass.

But I agree, even if Trump would manage to win the election, he can’t govern. We need to keep Trumpism and get rid of Trump.

Sure seems like both sides are pussy-footing around.
Because we know they can do extensive damage through hacking, & likely terrorist cells within our borders. Obviously in a standard military conflict we would dominate them, but standard military conflicts are a thing of the past. Look at what they did as a warning after Stuxnet. It’s well known our infrastructure & financial systems are susceptible & have been infiltrated many times by Iran, Russia, North Korea, & especially China. The days of us just taking fights to other countries on their ground are long gone…

Yawn

Israel took out internet and cell service Friday. Looks like it was restored to Gaza on Saturday.

White House official…”We made it clear they had to be turned back on. The communications are back on. They need to stay on.”

The White House should **** off. Hamas uses the communication network for command and control, if I were Israel I would "oopsy" them right back off and explain our technicians are doing their best but it is a war zone doncha know.

Israel should hire Comcast to handle it. The White House will be in an endless loop of customer service computer prompts for the next year.

The White House is imposing the same restrictions on Israel that it has on Ukraine. It’s nonsense.

We have increased the amount and quality of weapons sent to Ukraine but put important targets off limits.

I believe conservative propaganda that is fed to me. Every problem under the sun is the fault of the evil leftist empire and the rights are perfect and fix everything

fify. Make it your signature and you could save a lot of time. ;)

In defense of Butler, her opponents have unfairly assumed that just because she admitted a group could be considered part of the left, that must mean she would support it.

Even saying she doesn't support them, what exactly is Progressive or Leftist about Hamas and Hezbollah outside of viewing them through the "oppressor/oppressed" lens (And Hezbollah doesn't even fit that mold, they are the "oppressors" in Lebanon)

I'm not going to go back and listen to the entire talk, and this is over a decade old, so it might be based on slightly outdated circumstances and/or intellectual paradigms, but just based on the snippets and her known stances on the issue, it appears that she's following a train of thought that goes: anti-orientalist -> anti-imperialist -> part of the global left.

I do not think there is any place in there where she argues they are progressive, other than that one off-hand comment, which I assume is a misstatement. The "left" is more than just the progressive movement, just as the "right" is more than just social conservatives. Butler is, as I understand it, influenced heavily by Said, so for her, the West-East divide has a huge overlap with the right-left divide. As such, she might recognize within certain Islamist movements an anti-West/anti-imperialist train of thought that clearly coincides with how she understands the broader "left," while also realizing that, in other aspects, they are very far removed from much of the left as it exists (ironically) in the West itself.
