I, & I suspect others, aren’t interested in finding out if Israel has it coming. There is one group of people in this conflict that would like to see us (Americans) dead & have killed thousands of us, & one group whose values & interests generally align with ours. I’m sure Israel has some fault in it, but seeing as they’re not chanting about chopping my head off, I’ll ride with them.

I'm no condoning the violence of the riots juxtaposed to BLM protests. I have many friends, young men who I know from coaching, who participated in the BLM protests. I did twice as well. None of them participated in any riots. You want to link the two, go for it. Attacking the government, regardless, is far worse.

I don't understand. As a small business owner I have insurance so I don't need to defend my inventory with my life.
You won't believe it, but I have read people saying as it grew near dark, new people began arriving to the protests. Many others that had been protesting left. At least some of the rioters were not protesters, they were using the protest for their own purpose. But fee of the daytime protestors wore face coverings other than COVID masks. At night, full face masks were far more common.
I have no idea how many were protesters, how many were "other". None of us know, all we can agree on is there was some non-zero percentage of both.
Personally I view the two riots similarly. A whole lot of people attended the speeches on the mall, chanted, left, no problems. It is unfair to target all of them for the bozos that went in. You can look back, I have said that for many months.

What I don't understand, a horrible tragedy happened in Israel when Hamas terrorists butchered civilians. Why is the thread devoted now to BLM? Sure, there are some crazies in the group and some legitimately concerned people, but BLM is secondary to the real news from Israel. Trump is secondary, MAGA is secondary. The real news is what is happening/will happen in Israel and Gaza. Maybe Lebanon, maybe Iran.

yes and no. i think the news in part is what is happening here. i was just listening to the rep from the local anti defamation league on the radio working with the fbi to monitor threats. blm and other organizations, colleges allowing protests, etc is topical and in some ways more germane to our actual lives. i think of the justice being shouted down by the students at stanford yet many of that same ilk are absent in shouting down these protests. anyway it's interesting. of course it's fun to throw it in the face of hte left as they enjoy throwing maga in the face of the right, and it serves that both sides have their idiocy, but it demonstrates much is more involved than we see on the surface. blacks and jews. colleges. our representatives. left and right
