It's a last-minute decision for me. Light rain, I'm making the drip. If it's pouring buckets at 5 pm tomorrow and the forecast is calling for 4 more hours of the same, I'm watching from the recliner. I love the Hoosiers and I have been waiting for the home opener for months but I'm just not sitting through a monsoon. This is another area where "social media" and the internet has not been helpful.
In the past, we'd just live our lives and be prepared.
Now, a week out from anything, we can get weather reports.
We obsess all week.
99% of the time, it sounds worse than it is.
Guaranteed our crowd will be down because by now everybody expects armageddon-ish flooding and lighting.
I've already made funeral plans, since I'll probably drown on the way home, if I ever make it to Bloomington!
I miss Marcia Yockey.
She'd have told us exactly when it would start and stop.
I agree that the forecast has probably already seriously diminished the crowd but I don't blame anyone who doesn't show. Pouring rain not only means misery for the fans, it means shitty football as well.
