Good question...as I think about it more, probably not as much as many worry about, obviously including me.
I just don't think the smoke is worth what the fire would produce for us, right now.

Its just not a good time.
My prediction is the only way they do it before seasons end, is if we get to a point, more than a week or so before end of season, where we're locked in to the bottom 5 in conference...meaning no NCAA, AND no B10 tournament. I think if that happens, and they have more than a few days to gain from it, I could see it happening. But that's unlikely, I would say. They'd probably have to lose their next 10 games or so for that to happen.
I can see your point but I could also see a pretty easy path to firing him and making a case for it.
The fact that this team has only one quad one win and has been boat raced by anyone approaching good this year and most of them were with Malik being available.
The fact that this year is the same shit show as the past three years just with a different cast.
Even you have talked about what does this team practice because the same problems happen game after game, year after year.
The BEST thing would be if he would "step down" due to health concerns or whatever for him to save face.
I would be STUNNED if that happened.
The problem is his assistant coaches are just as bad as he is. Maybe even worse. There isn't one player on this team I want back next year. Not one.
The record is so deceiving because the wins are against bad competition. 3 of the 4 big ten wins are against bottom dwellers.

It would be a good problem to have...I guess, as it would mean something on the court to be excited about. But If I were Dolson, and I let Woodson go before the season ended...I'd name Ya or Hunter the interim guy, assuming they'd stay and take it. Much less pressure to keep either of them if IU would somehow turn it around and have a miracle run of some sort, than if they went with Cheaney.
And as soon as I named them the interim, I would announce that there will be a national search for a new coach. If Ya, or Hunter, wanted to apply for the full time job, they'd certainly be considered. But there will definitely be an extensive search.
I'm not convinced it would happen before March 9th - even if we lose out. I just don't think we've (Dolson, Whitten, BOT, and esp QB) got the stomach for the national backlash. Nobody but us knows this record is a scam. Just like the reverse in football. Nobody but us knew they were badasses and the teams they thumped were actually decent football teams before we stole their spirit. About all we can do now is sit and wait for the season to tank and Woody to shat himself a few more times. We should be pretty good at this drill by now.

Yes. 100%…. We know what we have on the bench and a magical run doesn’t change that. Locking into a coach after a magical run would be the exact mindset that got us here in the first place. Get him a good going away gift and say happy trails to you!
However, I am with North in that I think the idea of making a move now is extremely bad optics. Yes coaches are confident and yes we could explain ourselves, but we may not get an opportunity if they simply look at the numbers and think we are an unrealistic lynch mob.
