That's why percentage growth is also a useful statistic. And 10-year trends are more useful than 1-year snapshots. And additional stats other than just business applications are obviously important if you want to really understand what is going on. They are all part of a larger picture where each state's economic conditions are unique. Business climates are much more complex than simply gross population and new business applications. That would be a more interesting conversation than the one that you are engaged with Hickory on across multiple threads.
disagree. i think the window over the last three years is far more germane and interesting as it reflects somewhat anomalous events: covid, marked culture wars where outspoken progressives and right winger politicians are impacting, attracting and losing business. new business applications are A factor, so too are closures, relocations, net, etc. it's somewhat unique to see policy and rhetoric so impactful in business creation/relocation.
