Interesting...

Final Five.

At least that's what I saw. Either way. Glad to see we have a chance to fill that gaping hole we have at 6'5" wing.

And final four with Thomas Bryant

Alon with Syracuse, Mizzou and maybe UK? I would imagine he will end up at 'Cuse.

Any new news on this front?

He's listed as a small forward.

That probably makes him a 5 in Crean's system. It's interesting that we're going after him when we're 2 over the limit already. Do you think Priller and April are aware of the Creaning yet?

I missed the announcement that IU gets 16 scholarships next year.

That certainly should help this team.

Re: He's listed as a small forward.

So, if those two leave, the tallest player will be a 6'8" HMP. Awesome. I guess it will by TC another year saying he has no bigs.

Re: I missed the announcement that IU gets 16 scholarships next year.

I don't understand his recruiting philosophy.

Chances are the coaching staff only promised Priller and April 1 year

Essentially an audition for the team, with the option to stay on with preferred walk on status if they aren't good enough to earn their keep. Chances are pretty good that at least an additional 1-2 players will leave due to transfer or going pro.

Re: I missed the announcement that IU gets 16 scholarships next year.

Crean gets 16 scholly's and still can't get a big man. Oh well.

Bloom...

If my memory serves correct, didn't Dillard get in trouble, for beating up a teammate?

A 6'-7" on the floor 2 bigs riding the bench

If height was that critical, why aren't our two tallest players getting into the game, ever? You're worried about keeping two players because they are tall, but can't beat out a 6'-7" 3 playing in the 5 spot?

The two incoming players for next year and Holt are around 6'-8" with wingspans of 7'+ players. I would rather have one of those players in the post instead of a 7' player that doesn't work hard. I once saw a 6'-4 center win the opening tip, out rebound, and shut down a 7'-2 player in high school. The gym was sold out to see a player that tall and our center dominated him.

Maybe Mizzou values height over talent.

As Mr. Bob Knight once said: " I never saw anyone rebound with the top of

their head." Length is more important than height. How many times did 6"7 210 lb Dennis Rodman lead the NBA in rebounding (that is what his listing is on basketball-reference.com).

Charles Barkley

He led the NBA in rebounding and he was in the neighborhood of 6'-6".

If you want to be a troll ....

At least create your account on peegs. Low post count, Mizzou account. What is your handle on other fan sites so I can look you up?

So with the trend of players transferring and leaving early....

with every other team in college basketball, CTC should not recruit? I would expect Crean to be fired if he did not recruit just because IU has no seniors on the roster. It would be very stupid.

Re: If you want to be a troll ....

IU is set with big men. My bad.

One year in which IU is lacking in the middle and everybody...

thinks this is the way Crean recruits?

You have no idea what you are taling about.

Try to be objective and research the historical facts.

What did IU have the previous years? Do your research.

On 2nd thought, you are not an IU fan, so why would you know the facts.

Re: And final four with Thomas Bryant

Possibly waiting for report from NCAA infractions committee

Re: Chances are the coaching staff only promised Priller and April 1 year

Glass recently said athletes will not have their scholarships taken away for injury or performance reasons..if they want to stay they stay and the recruits get scuttled

Chances are zero that happened...

Or they both are advised by the dumbest people on the planet, and/or that would've been discussed because the walk-on aspect of it isn't that far fetched.

Cuse NCAA penalties...

might cost them on this one. Not the exact penalty but the potential. Obviously UK taking a verbal from Wynyard doesn't hurt us either. He's a 2016 now and sounds likely to reclassify to 2015 causing even more of a log jam for minutes.

On paper...our situation presents the best opportunity. Hopefully he says that come Mid-March.

Pittsburgh...

or Purdue but something changed. We moved up quickly though...which might be bad news actually. Tells me our staff feels very confident that more than 1 will be rolling the dice and headed for NBA/Europe.

Just wish our players were like Wisconsin. At least come back for 3rd or sometimes 4th year. Their early departure rate has to be one of the lowest in country as it relates to top 100 talent.

Re: Pittsburgh...

Crean must be expecting another year of major turnover even without any seniors

I would hope/think...

everyone has ordoes. Just the way it is. I remember being laughed at in September on this board saying we would have at least 3 leave and I actually named Yogi/Troy and 1 TBD.

Roster turnover is something I've just grown to accept. Like it or not.

Re: I would hope/think...

Well its not a good thing in this case because we are not bringing in McDonald AA's to replace them. Bryant is key if we have people mass exit, we need a difference maker in the middle.

But the beauty of it is this....

more than likely we will at the very minimum have JB Jr (McD's AA), Robert Johnson (Top 50), and Zeisloft/Hoetzel (very capable shooters) as our plan if the scenario I described before happens.

With or without a mass exit (as you call it)....Bryant is extremely important but at least our guards/wings cupboard won't be bare like last year and that's if Yogi/TW do leave. Praying at least 1 comes back.

Re: Bloom...

Are we talking Jaquan Lyle type here? Or was his fight a one time occurrence?

Re: Bloom...

He is a little rough...he is orignally from Gary.

Re: I missed the announcement that IU gets 16 scholarships next year.

But yet, some on here criticize Crean for not having foresight when he loses kids early and not having a ready answer for the unexpected loss.

Seems to me he's telling us he knows something we don't and has signaled it with his over-signings. It may not have anything to do with the kids sitting at the end of bench.

What would you do as a coach?

Re: I missed the announcement that IU gets 16 scholarships next year.

That is fine if he knows guys are leaving but replace the need! We lost Vonleh and replaced with????April?Priller.

We may lose Yogi and replace with who? Two 6'7 guys and a possibly a 6'5 Dillard?
