Interesting article about current student life at Stanford U.

Will never forget when the Stanford band came to Purdue my freshman year (1981 - John Elway's junior year). The band was there for a full week (?) before the game, sleeping on the floor of the Armory. At night they went about campus, playing loudly outside dorms in the middle of the night. Nothing like being woken by a marching band playing right outside your window.

They also recruited Purdue students to march with them, even if they did not play an instrument. One guy marched with a pair of snow skies, and another carried around a cooler during their halftime show.

During their halftime show, they played Light Up (Styx), while in formation. That formation was a joint, with people running out the end to simulate smoke. But, as the song progressed, it transformed into a giant penis.

They also played a tribute to the IUD, forming one on the field. Don't remember what song they played for the tribute. I remember seeing some Purdue alums in the stands with their mouths agape. Quite the spectacle.

Oh, and I can't recall for certain, but I suspect that the IUD tribute came right after the ejaculating penis. (At least in my own mind that would be the appropriate sequence.)
