Final: IU 16 ISU 7

This game was almost the mirror image of the first game played in Terre Haute with the roles reversed where IU had grabbed a 6-0 lead with Indiana State tying the game at 6-6 enroute to a 15-7 win. In this game, ISU had a 6-0 lead with IU tying the game at 6-6. Five of ISU's 7 runs were off of two homers. This win gives IU a little bit of boost going into the Maryland series this weekend.

Tibbitts had to leave the game in the 2nd inning after hurting his left foot and he was in some pain when he left the game, so let's hope it's nothing serious.

ISU had two errors to one error for IU.

IU outhit the Sycamores 14-9 and was 14 of 37 for .378, while ISU was 9 for 36 for .250. IU had four players with multiple hits.

Cerny - 4 for 6 to include a GS for his 4 RBIs.

Mathison - 2 for 4 with a solo homer and 2 RBIs, and 2 walks.

Stadler - 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks.

Oliver - 2 for 5 with an RBI.

Pyne - 1 for 5 with a homer and 2 RBIs.

IU used 7 pitchers tonight with no one pitching more than two innings, while the Sycamores used 8 pitchers. IU pitchers combined for 16 Ks, 5 BBs, 1 WP, 3 hit batters, and all 7 runs scored by ISU were earned.

I'll let the box score give the individual pitching results.

Don’t we seem to run hot and cold this year … need to win this weekend’s series … BiG tourney seeding is important.

Hoping yesterday was start of a season remaining trend of the real Indiana showing up. I’m going to the game Friday

There nothing specific out there on Tibbitts. At least, I haven't seen anything yet. Hopefully, he won't be out for very long. Coach Mercer said this after the game about Tibbitts:

“I don’t know, they’ll get him in for testing and they’ll take a look at it. You feel for him and hope it’s not too serious.”

You can see him on crutches in the dugout.

ISU broke into the top 25 this week with a 30-9 record.

Meanwhile, IU played extra innings in Muncie for a tie … (darkness)
