Indiana Basketball coach search 2.0 - "Legit candidates" and "not gonna happen."

The "best fit" is something that IU hasn't seen in a very long time. There simply hasn't been one since RMK was fired. Most fans I talk to are concerned about another hiring fail. Why wouldn't they be? Beard is viable....so is Scott Drew. I think both would be a home run. I'll say something about Dusty May. While I think he is a high level prospect, I would be surprised if he left Michigan. IU should have hired him last year. If he did leave Michigan after one season....frankly, I would not see that as entirely positive, even if it's a move to IU. I would question his decision making and loyalty. Many will disagree with me about that. Thats fine, too.
I do not disagree. And I do not know that Indiana will not look at Beard, but I find it highly unlikely, and that is a shame all the way around. Assembly Hall would probably be a magical atmosphere, again. People are just going to have to chill because this is going to be a 6-week process.

I just want IU to hated by Purdue again and loved by everybody else. Love is the only way.😇

I'd take Ben McCollum over Scott Drew. Drew is like Crean with his recruiting. Every year they lose a ton of guys and have to redo it again. IU tried that garbage already. Doesn't work in Bloomington.

I'm not big on Drew but he has won a championship 25 wins on the average Indiana connection fits alot of the boxes buyout is 4.5 million. McCollum has Archie 2.0 all over him coming to Indiana has coached one season at Drake needs more seasoning to become coach at a program like Indiana.

IUBB success is a lock with Beard. But Dusty is only quarter step behind. After all, in his presser he never stated he he wouldn't leave Meatchicken. Nor did he even hint the IU HCing was of no interest to him. He said much more about his aspirations by saying zero about his future. Either 1 are both Dolson's to lose. But it's going to take awhile.

Some of the candidates mentioned and getting support here, you have to shower after being around them. We don't need that. I know many believe that's just the way it is in big time basketball. I don't believe that. Too many coaches winning and are still solid people and can recruit within the rules, what few there are.

Dolson will get 'no' from his top two choices. Just like in football he will hire a good coach that nobody speaks of, either in the media or on the IU forums. I am guessing that Brad's wife is not going to want to relocate to small town Bloomington after living in Boston. Dusty will be paid accordingly with a huge IU buyout with his new scUM contract. Beard is a no, and any other big name coach is not going to leave their P4 school to come to IU. Dolson already knows who his 3rd and 4th choice is.

I do not think Beard prefers Ole Miss over the IU job.

I could get behind Pearl. We don’t need him for 15 years. He can come in immediately and win. There is no question about his coaching ability.
Pearl vs May, I choose May, but Pearl is capable of righting the ship, and possibly winning bigger than he has, at IU.
