CHICAGO – Indiana University men's soccer's Jeremiah Gutjahr was named to the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team camp roster on Tuesday.
Gutjahr was one of 24 players named to an 11-day training camp roster as the U.S. team enters its final stage of preparation for mid-February's 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will send four teams to the 2017 FIFA U-20 Men's World Cup in South Korea this May.
"It's a great honor to be selected to compete for the U.S. National Team," Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley remarked. "Jeremiah has worked hard for this opportunity. He is developing very well and we are excited to see the impact Jeremiah will have on IU soccer and our national team programs in the years ahead."
The training camp will be held from Jan. 31-Feb. 10 in Orlando, Fla. Upon the conclusion of camp, Ramos will name the final roster of 20 players who will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. That final roster will be selected from the entire U-20 player pool. The World Cup qualifying tournament is scheduled to run from Feb. 17-March 5, with the team's first game taking place Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. EST against Panama.
Previously, Gutjahr has been named to the U.S. U-20 and U-18 teams. This past season for the Hoosiers, Gutjahr appeared in 20 matches, earning 11 starts, totaling one goal and one assist on the year.
