Same way that Langford was a Crean recruit?Elston was definitely a Sampson recruit.

holman? wasted talent. bassett went on to having a very successful relationship with the justice system. arrested for pouring bleach on a woman's face, dealing weed, multiple dui's, habitual traffic offender. what a good eggReally, name 'em. Armon Basset went on to have a very successful college career, Jordan Crawford … Xavier, and NBA, Holman , I guess hated Crean, but I and most of us do too.
dementia is hereditary. just sayingI don't pay for premie chatter … at least not when we have sucked coach-wise forever, and the product on the floor is anathema to IU BBall … which my 77 year mother sees, with partial dementia mind you. To what are you referring to? What else did he do, I would not be privy, nor would I expect most of us. But I would doubt its as dire as you insinuate, well … because he's had basketball jobs with high character outfits that were not worried about him. Huh? He has a dead program back, would be a terrific cheap, low risk, hire yeah?

Don't forget about "Bud" Mackey. Doing 16 years for robbery, possession and distribution of crack cocaine.Google Armon Basset and explain to me how he was not a bad egg. Remember what Eric Gordon said about that team?

Here's a suggestion … Kelvin Sampson would probably come back tomorrow. Great coach, had us in elite eight I believe in like two years, and we have no idea where things could have gone his last year. Yes, he did lie, but over trivial things that are now not illegal. Again, great coach, and can recruit and turn things around quickly.
To be honest, he's a lot less morally questionable than Alford, given Pierre Pierce, and to be more honest had a lot less public player infractions than Crean did. He's proven, doesn't pay players, and does more with less. I don't think he'd be an expensive hire either, if we wanted to treat it as an experiment we expect to go well, but with a contract backloaded on the assumption of success.
Anyone that calls him a scumbag or he ruined the program is just an idiot. He made a mistake in doing that what was not a big deal and lying about it … end of story. Of all the realistic possibilities, I really doubt he would flirt with another misstep in his career, and he is a proven coach even here already. You know what too, KS never choked a player, assaulted players, or students … and a lot of us pine away for the coaching of a guy that did
Becoming?Didn't see this one coming.
And he's doubled and tripled down.
People are becoming unhinged on here.

dude it was not ever about the phone calls but it was him breaking the same rules as he did before. Also it was the kind of kids he brought into the program that made him a scumbag. Here's a suggestion … Kelvin Sampson would probably come back tomorrow. Bassett was and has proven that since he left IU with be arrested a few times.Derek Elston, Matt Roth, Devin Ebanks, Eric Gordon, Lance Stemler, Armon Basset, DJ White, Jordan Crawford, just to name a few were not bad eggs.
had to google him to jog my memory.when keepin' it real goes wrongDon't forget about "Bud" Mackey. Doing 16 years for robbery, possession and distribution of crack cocaine.
and anything that ends with "clap clap...clap clap clap." sports chants were better when i was a kid. perhaps we need to go to zimbabwe for a new oneYes. Two things we don't have are a mascot and a good chant. That one sucks.
I guess you don’t remember that far back.Same way that Langford was a Crean recruit?
And remember Eli Holman was an iffy recruit because he struck a ref in high school?Don't forget about "Bud" Mackey. Doing 16 years for robbery, possession and distribution of crack cocaine.
Kelvin’s a really good guy. He gets a lot of the same criticism as Bruce Pearl. Both committed minor infractions and made the mistake of lying about it.
I’ve played golf with both of them - admittedly I don’t know Kelvin near as well as I do Bruce. But I’ll say he was very misunderstood by IU fans. I’d love to have him back.

Fred Glass and Tom Crean created this monster. Not Kelvin.Incredible.
"[r]eally good guy."
"[l]ove to have him back."
Has Kelvin POS Sampson ever expressed even a minute amount of remorse, contrition, regret or apology for what he did which set back IU's program to it's present level of mediocrity-at-best situation this past decade?
There would be riots in the streets if there were to be a hint that this cretin might be hired.
Lesson Learned from other schools: Never self- report.Sounds crazy, but if it didn't work out with Archie, I wouldn't be terribly upset. He did have some questionable characters, but is a heck of a coach and would have us headed in the winning direction.
Possibly the worst thing this program ever did was self reporting and firing him.
Teams that self report always seem worse off than those that don't.

LolYes. Two things we don't have are a mascot and a good chant. That one sucks.
Didn't some of his players love the weed? No, I'm really not kidding. Serious, when we are looking to Alford, most of us wish RMK had never been fired, and now a bunch suggesting Bruce Pearl … why would KS not deserve a second chance over white lies about f'n texting too much, when what got him in trouble is fair game now. Really? Dackich destroyed this program by forcing Crean's hand on character issues that didn't really exist, just the players didn't like him … cause well, he's a dick as we all know well, and he did a shit job adjusting to them, totally lost a great team, and spelled his fate. Enter Crean, snake oil salesman and excuse maker, with hands tied on some players he'd probably rather have kept … and that's where are where we are.
