I think Indiana could win their next 4 games if they find a bit of offense. That defense looked up to the task against Ohio State.

It would be really exciting to roll into Michigan at 4-1/possibly ranked!! A guy can dream, right!!?

I doubt 4-1 would equal a ranking unless Maryland is undefeated going into that game. Might receive votes.

But a 4-1 IU team rolling into AA and making a good showing could end up garnering some votes.

Coaches needed to trust the OL and run the regular offense instead of what they ran. IU doesn't have option QBs anywhere on the team or who they are recruiting so it is dumb to run that offense. They could have run a normal offense and slowed things down as much as they want. The type of option like IU ran versus against PU is fine with Lucas at pitchback and the QB deciding to run or pitch. Any other option like against OSU is ridiculous. Run IU's offense with passes and runs in all areas.

I read once where the read option was created by a HS coach whose QB told him that he thought he could beat the opposing team‘s end. Sorsby and Jackson couldn’t beat the OSU’s ends, who weren’t tempted to crash to stop the dive back. Without the promise that IU QBs can expect to beat the opposing team’s end … the read option as the bread and butter running play can be expected to be fruitless, and alternate concepts are clearly indicated. That doesn’t mean, that IU’s QBs should never pull the ball … but it should be as a counter only.

What we ran last year against Purdue is what we ran against Ohio State. Split back, zone read, with option variations. It has several wrinkles, but it’s the exact same package.
