would that disappoint you? seems like some on here want a clean slate. I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do with players who were perceived to underachieve under Woodson.

I think Myles has a shot. He plays defense the way DD demands and he has demonstrated the ability to push (DD wants a good luck in the first 12 seconds of each pocession). We spent a lot of time watching Myles walk the ball up, unfortunately.

I don't care to see MM in an IU uniform again. The price is not right.

MM can move on, he doesn’t play hard. Rice I would give a shot if everyone else is gone
of the players who could stay these 2 are the most realistic from what I have heard, but I suspect they will leave also. I just think it would be interesting to see how MM would look under a no BS coach.

I just depends on things we don't know. I have to trust CDD to talk to them and figure it out. We see the problems, but not the cause.

If CDD tells them what he wants them to fix, and that he will teach them how to do it if they commit to doing it, and they aren't all-in, well, easy choice. If they deny they have that problem, again, easy choice.

But if the kid is saying they did everything Woodson told them to do, but he just didn't give them detailed instructions on how to improve, well, more of these kids may be salvageable than we think.

I'm trusting in CDD 100%. If he feels a guy has the mentality and skills he's looking for and wants to keep them, I'm trusting that. Why care what a bunch of fanboard goofs (including myself in that grouping!) think?

Yup...it'll be an interesting thing if any of them stay. If a guy like Mack stays at IU... we'll all get a pretty darn good case study in 1) how important coaching in college really is for players 2) Whether or not DeVries really is what everyone is saying about him right now, which is a detail oriented guy, a guy that demands attention to those details, etc... If Mack were to stay, and looked largely the same a month or so in to the season...that would be a very BAD sign in all this. Conversely, if he stayed, and we saw a more intense, engaged Mack...you know maybe saw him in an actual defensive stance every now and then... that could be a very GOOD sign.

I would give Rice the benefit of the doubt based upon the serious Health issue He has been through, and the possibility He wasn't back at full strength yet. An off season of full weight and conditioning work might help. My only concern is He hasn't shown that He is a true point guard. Maybe a different Coach with a different system will help him in that regard. MM is replaceable. If He scores 20, He gives up 25 with his Defensive Deficiencies, and doesn't show the desire or mental toughness to become a better Defender. I don't think He coul guard my Grandmother, and She died in 1973.

MM seems like the type who was gifted with size and athletic talent, but has zero interest in playing basketball. Almost like he’s just playing because he’s supposed to. My girlfriend back in HS was 5’10” and was extremely athletic…had zero interest in organized sports.

With MM, I think it’s going to take longer than a month or so to see the kind of results you are talking about. It’s clear to me that there are many aspects of his game that haven’t been developed, in HS and at IU. Contrast that with Myles Rice, who I believe would develop at a faster pace and might be a better example of what you suggest.

Don't want either of them, move on to "team" players who want to win not just play for themselves or $ only. They have had plenty of opportunities to prove themselves this past season and failed in my opinion.

couldn't disagree more on MM.
I think he be stellar with both a coach and a coach who understands what needs to be on both end of the court.
We were nothing but squandered talent and no sane person can hang it on MM

I think Rice showed what kind of defender he can be in the second half of the PU game. IMO, the best one on one defense I have seen in quite a while.

To me, the real question is can CDD get that kind of effort from him game after game!

If a coach can get MM to play hard, it would be very hard to find anyone in the portal as talented as he is with the upside. I like Rice I think he fits the way DD plays better than he did what Woody had to offer.

I would like to keep Tucker but it seems as if that ship has sailed.

Interestingly, WSU with Rice eliminated Drake from the tourney in his last game there. I wonder if that might influence his view?

Nah...I'd be able to see something probably with a couple weeks if I were able to watch practices. Probably within a minute or two of their first game if not. Fundamental things middle schoolers can start to pick up on in a couple weeks. Obviously Mack would be a work in progress early in the year next year, no matter where he goes. But the work that DeVries and his staff, and Mack, would have put in from April through November, would be immediately noticeable in their first game.

To be successful CDD needs a team that can play to his system. IU has one of the slowest, least athletic rosters in the B1G. I know many believe Rice is fast but in reality he's average for a PG. Being the fastest player on a slow team isn't saying much. The hope is Rice was not being coached to succeed and there's still a chance he pans out.

The one constant through IUs woes over many years is they rarely have a top level PG. That should be IUs goal. If your going to spend big on NIL, get the PG right.

I hope everyone that has eligibility to stay does if the coach wants them back. If Woody was such an issue then maybe the new coach gets them on track. DeVries teams take a lot of 3's is my understanding. Woody teams seemingly went thru the post. Might we see more plays to create open 3's. If MM gets consistent with that shot, he'd be deadly. If Leal, Gallo, Ballo, Hatton, MR, Goode, and Cupps are gone there is plenty open spots to get players. If the newbies take MM's playing time he can xfer next year. I'd like to see MR stay but being from miami, I guess he may likely want to play at home.

I quite like JHS.

I think MM came here thinking he'd be here for a year. Woodson probably sold him on getting him to the league like TJD and JHS. Surprised he even came back this year, I guess a huge bag of cash did the convincing. He gives no impression at all of a kid who wants to work hard.

I liked JHS too but he wasn't a true PG and the best they could do with him was a play in game W. Then crushed in round one. They haven't been legit contenders for anything since Yogi.

I think MM is wired a certain way that would best be served on a middle of the pack p4 school team where he could put up numbers and get himself back on a draft board next year. Rice could pop with a modern offense and coaching. I think he's better as a secondary playmaker.

Yep MM needs to move on. No interest in keeping him. Sam with Carlye.

Impression? lol

I'm sure the coach can get more than an opinion on impression to determine if they should move forward together next year or if he should leave.

Well of course -- it's an opinion. Maybe he is a deeply motivated driven kid and Woodson just couldn't get that out of him. If DeVries can get that out of him, more power to him and I'll be happy to see it.

2 things

1. does dd want them?
2. how much of a pay cut are they willing to accept (here or elswhere)?
