I think this Karmelo Anthony case is going to blow up into something big.

Some Republicans are still triggered by the fact we elected a black man. Not because he was black, per se, but because a lot of people are incapable of not connecting the DEI dots and concluding that America only elected Obama because he was black.

And it's not necessarily all their fault. The race hustlers Sowell references are also part of the problem, and very few of them are Republicans.
Obama was not elected because he was black in 2008. He was elected because he was black in 2012 and the demographic shift shows as much.

Yes, agreed. Every single one of us would do well to at least make a good faith effort to view everybody else as the unique individuals that we all are - good, bad, and in between.

There’s a reason that the “content of their character” quote is probably MLK’s most famous. Notice he wasn’t saying that we shouldn’t judge people. We should. But a person’s race (or ethnicity, religion, etc) is not an element of their character.

Nobody should look down on a large group of people on the basis of a common superficial characteristic.*

AND, writers of TV commercial jingles.

While your overall point is valid and accurate, if you didn’t meet anyone in those days that said “I’m voting for Obama because this county needs a black president”, then you didn’t go out much.
Obviously they exist. I'm trying to say that I recognize this bit of a reactionary DEI fetish on the right didn't just appear out of nowhere. There is something they are reacting to. The worst examples of the left genuinely are there to be found. They aren't all strawmen.

Obama handled Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Trayvon exceptionally poorly. As had traditionally been the case, Presidents need to wall themselves off completely from such cases. No comment, no wielding federal authority.

Did Clinton get involved in O.J.? H.W. in Rodney King?

As the first black President, maintaining that standard would’ve gone a long way. But he feared losing minority support if he didn’t at least tacitly show support.
The feds went after the Rodney King officers.

I’ve never understood the Rodney King stuff. Does taking the police on an 8 mile chase, at speeds of 120 mph, endangering dozens of people not warrant an ass beating? Maybe not by the letter of the law but certainly by any reasonable standards of expectations.

That's not the way the system is supposed to work though. The ass beating part isn't supposed to happen at the hands of police. What you're describing as being expected is what happened to Reginald Denny at the hands of a mob.

Agreed. Smigel was awesome in that election.

Here's a really good bit he did about "political correctness" on college campuses, in the context of the election. Lot of good stuff here -- the nametags always get me. "Swipe Right" and "JV Drake". Some of the students' disgusted reactions are so good that I had to wonder if they were scripted. Oh, and "Rapist Americans".

That's one of the funniest things I've seen in a loooooong time.

“Sophomore should be called ‘tried being a lesbian and didn’t love it.’ And then I think Junior year should be called ‘Plan B pregnancy scare.’ And Senior Year should be….’lesbian for good.’”

And the uptight girl’s disgusted reactions to everything are just perfect.

The girl standing behind her is even more turned off. Hilarious.

Seriously? No. When a suspect is securely restrained, and the cops and public are no longer in any imminent danger, there is no longer any reason to use physical force....until and unless there is again, and in that case the aim is to get the suspect back to restrained and secured.

They were just wailing on Rodney King for kicks. That whole incident was disgusting. And I bet it happened (still happens?) more than we knew/know. It was dumb luck the whole thing was caught on video.

It's one of the reasons that BodyCams are such a welcome addition. Even now, though, it seems they have at least some problems with cops disabling them.

Forget the asinine and racist nature of the law. 120K down payment for lower and middle income families?

How in the hell are they going to afford mortgage payments on a $600K+ home?

Will they get assistance for the payments as well?

Progressives are batshit crazy.
Dems never learn.

I love how you immediately recognize how crazy this is, but don't take the first obvious step of questioning whether or not the Twitter explanation of the program might not actually be completely full of shit.

Wrong. When (if) he’s convicted - nearly all of us will have to deal with the bullshit race-baiting protests that will spring up all over the country. Hopefully we get the mostly peaceful kind - but we know what ends up at some of them.

I feel like this is a direct tie to the Anthony case and we're quickly headed to where you predicted we're going.

Sad.

The destruction of our nation from within - mostly due to foreign and leftist interference in our schools to foment CRT and continuing the illusion of systemic racism - is inevitable at this point. The only question is what it will look like once destroyed and how quickly it will happen.

It's not over yet!
