Great person and great representative for IU. Good player. But this team could be better next year because they won't be playing a 6'7" center. Trayce is 6'9' with the arm length of someone 6'11" He will be a good rim protector. If Davis can get in better shape that will help. Devonte needs to keep playing winning basketball.

Davis definitely still needs to finish getting in shape. And I’m wondering if Miller broke his foot off in Morgan’s ass during halftime because Morgan acted like he didn’t GAFF during the first half. He missed 2 or 3 consecutive layup attempts because he was playing lazy.

I'm with you...Trayce is a 5-star recruit and, while I've not seen him play...appears to have a future in the NBA...he will be a freshman. DD is going to have to work hard this summer...his impact in practice, going head-to-head with Trayce...has the potential to bring this team up-to-speed in a real hurry...

And he got the layup attempts, how? By being lazy? He was taking the ball to the hoop aggressively all night. Should he have made those shots? Yep, but he was being aggressive all night. The worst thing we did was not get him the ball more. The 2nd worst thing was why are our guys who are flashing to the high post inside the zone, not pivoting and at least looking at the basket when they receive the pass? That should be a standard almost every time, unless a deadeye 3 pt shooter is wide-ass open. Oh yeah... we don't have a deadeye 3 pt shooter! Scratch that part.

Agree on Davis. If the guy can get, and keep himself, healthy; he could be an all conference 16-10 guy next year. Hope it happens; guy deserves a stretch of good luck and health.

That is a great point. I thought the same thing. All Fitzner needs to do is run to the free throw line, get the pass and turn and shoot a 15 footer. There is no one at all that runs to that area because they are all guarding Morgan.

Do yourself a favor and don't parrot Dakich. Don't get me wrong, I like when he does games because he's irreverent, will say shit most won't and does have some good insights at times, but he also says dumb crap too, like "he's the best layup shooter at IU since Isiah". It could also be that Morgan was a little overhyped and had too much adrenaline going and blew those layups. Think about the logic of saying: "he was aggressive in wanting the ball and making his move, but was lazy in the attempt itself." Morgan was not our problem in the first half last night. He blew some shots he should have made (and normally does) and yet he was still 10-13, and you're complaining?

I saw some highlights of Trayce. He can catch at about 10 feet out and drive to the basketball. He can spin past slow big guys and shoot over small, fast guys. He looks like an excellent shot blocker. It will depend how he responds to the toughness of the BIG football rules.

His layup attempts were lazy. Straightened out in the second half.

Davis wasn't looking to score and played lazy. I think Archie made him sit and watch Morgan work his ass off all game. We will need both of them if Romeo doesn't play Thursday.

According to Juwan, McBob got on everyone at halftime and told them they could make those layups and to focus and get back after it. Juwan said people retreated into themselves when things started going bad.

Davis needs to stay healthy in the off season and work with experienced post players. It would be great if Cody or another former player would come back like they often do to work out in Cook Hall. It might show Davis the effort and skills needed to compete at a high level. It would actually help all our front court players

You're being sarcastic, right? He missed a few shots, but was beating his man at will until he had to sit with 2 fouls. We lost the lead without his effort in the game.

Juwan was unstoppable in the second half. I hope he inspired the rest of the front court players to GAFF on Thursday

Yes, I said Juwan got straightened out in the second half. He played lazy and soft on several plays in the first half. He could have gone for 40 had he played the first half like the second.

If Davis can get in better shape that will help.
I can't wait to see a 100% Davis. He still seems to favor that injury quite a bit and I imagine thats a darn tough injury to come back from. Next year he could be a crusher in the middle and the type of bully IU needs!

OK, thanks for that insightful clarification. Now... are you saying you think his layup attempts were lazy?
Morgan can’t be lazy at start of Ark game or we will see our elite three point shooters take charge again.

You're right. IU needs someone who's 6'9" with tremendous arm length.
I wonder if Hanner Mosquera-Perea has any eligibility left?

Morgan is going to be tremendously missed.

He's so good scoring in the paint.

So is De'ron, but it's been on such a limited sample size because he can't stay on the floor.

Gotta hope that Davis and Trayce can help absorb the loss of Morgan's post production.

If Davis gets back into good enough shape to go ~30 minutes/game, we should be alright. TJD will probably get a lot of playing time and we’ll have to see how Race continues to develop...and if Moore develops at all. Moore just doesn’t strike me as having great instincts. If Moore could even get to the point where he could give ~10 minutes of solid defense and grab a couple rebounds, it would make all the difference in the world.

Hard to stay motivated in an NIT game as a senior when your teammates didn't stay motivated and let you down for most of the season. I feel bad for Juwan.

would love t see davis start taking the 10-15 footers teams are giving him

he could have stayed on the floor if he played harder last night. miller all but said so post game

How many of you on here consider yourselves total losers? I do

Without Gafford, Arkansas will be a totally different team this time around, in my opinion.

If there were 5 dominant posts whom Morgan struggled to guard and score on, Gafford was near the top.

Davis runs like an 80 year old man.

Lord have mercy! He is so stiff and gimpy hobbling up and down the court. I’ve seen more graceful movement in retirement homes.

All the talk about TJD reminds me of what everyone said with Romeo: I’m not buying it till I see the product.

I think Davis has gotten more mobile in the past month. He can lose that weight and get his lower leg muscle strength up and it will help tremendously. He plays smart, fitness can give him big gains on the court for next season.

Different player. TJD will be a stud at IU.

i have made at least 5 dominant posts here and morgan couldn't guard any of them
