I like Kevin Wilson

One game fans ... One game. It's a long season, and Knorr's defense was an improvement from the prior season. Period. Continuity is much more important for Hoosier football than any decision to reverse course as long as there is not a tangible, disturbing backward trend, on either side of the ball.

He was very critical of the D Staff today. Almost put it on them and not the players.

He was, without question, critical of the defensive staff. He should be.

But he also acknowledged that he's a head coach (in his fifth year) who really doesn't understand the intricacies of defense. That's very troubling and, while I credit his honesty, it explains why that side of the ball continues to be a major problem, and it's obviously a huge reason for IU's failure to win under his leadership.

Me too. Nice to hear something positive on this board. Thanks for being brave enough to endure the inevitable criticism.

Almost every single coach who comes from an offensive background in this country is not going to understand the intracacies of a defense.
Take any former OC and ask them if they understand the sheer volume of details that a DC knows and they cannot say that they do. This is what we pay DCs and their staff to do.
The COO doesn't require the ability to write software programs even if the head of IT reports to him.

You couldn't be more wrong. Successful head coaches don't just delegate it to the defensive staff and head back to the offensive meetings. They get involved and become much more proficient at it. Just as you trashed a player who Wilson lauded as the defensive player of the game, your knowledge of this stuff is minimal.

To be the boss, you dont have to know how to do every job, just be familiar with it. You HIRE the skills you need. Business 101.

All good posts...
The best bosses who perform at optimal levels do know a great deal about every job. That's why they perform at elite levels. What you've described is mediocrity.

You are naive to think Wilson "doesn't know anything about defense."
It's not like we went into the stands and pulled "The Spa" out of a group a fans and told him to run the team (that would be horrific in its own right).
It's not his area of expertise. Certainly, he's going to be involved but I'm sure that he,like most coaches, don't micromanage the minutia of the job.
God God. He's got a DC to do that.

I stand by my comments about #56, #33 and #2. All had very bad games for veteran leaders on the defense.

But, the best bosses know how to effectively delegate. What you are asking Wilson to do is everything from calling the defense to cleaning the toilets.
The guy has already told everyone what he saw wrong with the defense and what he challenged those managers to correct. If that is not what he is supposed to do, you tell us?

First of all, if you're going to quote someone, you shouldn't make up the quote. Secondly, listen to his press conference. He acknowledged not knowing the intricacies of defense. Third, the main rip job from you was one of two players Wilson acknowledged as playing well.

Your arguments simply don't hold up to scrutiny.

Once again, when you have to make things up, your argument is lost and you come across as not very intelligent.

Neither do yours... obvious straw man arguments
