objectively, this is not a NCAA worthy team. Feel bad for Morgan to finish out his IU career this way. Time for Archie to start playing Moore, Forrester and Anderson to see if they make the purge that’s likely to happen after this season ends.

And there does need to be a purge in order to shorten up the rebuild. If you stick with the TC recruits we see what we will have. Move on sooner not later. Every recruit should see how much playing time is available.

There are really only 2 players that need to leave. But they really need to go

This is a long term rebuild. Nothing short a out it.

Green & Smith.

Romeo will be gone - as he should. Anyone who says differently is a selfish SOB. You can't tell me if someone handed you a winning lottery ticket for a guaranteed $5 mil you'd wait a year to cash it.

It isn't a lottery, it is a career. Take the easy way out, I get it.

Absolutely Romeo needs to go. You don't turn down life changing, f#$k you money that he's going to get in 4 months.

I don't want anyone to leave, even Smith and Green, but I'm not going to be upset if we lose two. Even my man Cliff, if he goes so be it.

Smith as a junior is a rotation player. It would be nice to have a guy like a Hunter to be able to sit him big minutes when he obviously was off from the first possession.

For the last time Freddy is not going to allow a purge of players it will kill our APR score you know that thing Alabama football worries about.

To me there need to be some house cleaning and get rid of the problem child's because there is definitely something wrong in house. At this time I wouldn't be upset if they totally cleaned house and started over from top to bottom including players. Saying that if we fired the coach after two years we will get the same type of candidate or worse so it will be wash/rinse and repeat.

Ever heard of Anthony Bennett?
What exactly are you trying to argue?

My point is if money is there waiting on you, you're not going to turn it down. Or shouldn't. No guarantees if you come back - just like with Marcus.

Is this IU Scott speaking common sense? What about the APR? I say screw it and clean house as well.

You come down to Earth yet?

He's already a lottery pick so the chances he improves his position is unlikely and if he does it won't be by much. Me would also be losing millions of dollars from that single season of not playing pro which could only be made up of if significantly improved his draft position. Then you have to factor in the risk that he has a very poor season and/or gets seriously injured and he drops in the draft or possibly out of it.

On top of that, what does the university have to offer him as far as improving that the pros don't? College coaches are limited in on much time they're allowed to spend coaching players, the pros don't have that limitation. As a professional the time he would have spent in class or doing homework could be used to practice. Some of the same people saying Miller can't coach are those saying Romeo should stay. If that is the case, wouldn't the professional coaching be much better? The majority of the time the professional coaches will be as good or better than college coaches, not just for Miller.

A single year of his professional salary would be more than enough to pay for the rest off of education, which he could finish either during or after his playing career is if he so wishes. The clock is ticking on his playing career but the university isn't going anywhere.

So I fail to see the advantage Romeo could gain by staying. I also don't see how doing the logical thing that is best for him is "taking the easy way out."

You realize getting younger does not mean getting better for IU. We don't have Duke or UK type of recruits coming in. Are you wanting to tank next season?
Not necessarily worse, either.

Green should have been a leader this year - but was more interested in toking. Smith - for all his athletic ability - makes mistakes that kills your defense. Would not be a bit surprised if they were 2 of the 3 players involved in the postgame fight in the locker room.

Let’s say those two leave. We get Brooks and Watford/grad transfer as replacements. You’ll have Al as a leader (he’s really becoming one of my favorite players) and hopefully a healthy team - which will allow for development/accountability.

Remember the 1982-83 Illinois team? Derek Harper left for the NBA after his junior year from a team that wasn’t on the same page most of the year. WITHOUT Harper the Illini won the Big 10 and lost an Elite 8 game to UK at Rupp Arena by a point.

Point being, having everyone pulling in the same direction makes a world of difference. And when they’re not, you get what we have with this group.

Please enlighten me regarding a post game altercation among players. I am unaware of this rumor.

This is the second rumor involving a team fight or a protest.

Not sure I'm buying either one.

Green and Romeo we're doing the post game press conference together side by side.

Maybe it happened after that but I seriously doubt they'd send Green to represent the players to meet the press if he was in a fight.

No guarantees if you go too early. The kid isn't ready mentally. That is a big reason to stay in college.

It isn't a sweepstakes. The kid has a ton of natural talent. He has one shot to get it right. No one talks about guys like Darius Miles. Too young, couldn't handle the world and the money and he didn't make it big despite a mass of talent.

30 years later, that's when they know if they made the right move or not. I don't think he's ready. A name in college can be a big deal. It can give a kid a lot to fall back on after basketball.

Just my opinion.

I'd love to see him come back. And I think he has a lot he could work on to go to a higher draft slot.

What happens if he blows out a knee? Or is he thinking he can go to the league, get his rookie contract started and then get to his 2nd deal quicker?

Thing I hate about all of this? Kids like Romeo ought to be able to go pro straight out of high school. We have the OAD rule to save NBA GM's from themselves - at least ones who can't evaluate players properly.

Yep.

Circumstances were different then. Rookie salaries nothing like they are today.

Again, I'd love to have Romeo back another year. But I fully understand why he'd turn pro - even though I do think he could improve still as a player at IU. Really hate that kids like him are forced into a year of college just to become eligible to be drafted.
