The latest National Hurricane Center forecast calls for Hurricane
Milton to make landfall along the west-central Florida coast
Wednesday night or early Thursday. As the hurricane tracks northeast
across the eastern Gulf on Wednesday, low to midlevel southeasterly
flow will increase across the Keys and Peninsula. This will result
in increasing SRH and enlarged, looping low-level hodographs amid a
very moist airmass (mid 70s F dewpoints). The increasing flow field
across Florida will coincide with peak heating, resulting in
sufficient instability to maintain isolated stronger updrafts within
outer rainbands that may approach the area by afternoon. Favorable
conditions for a few tropical cyclone related tornadoes will persist
into the nighttime hours.

My Family definitely can use some prayers! My grandma, mom, aunt, and uncle are in Port Charolette and have no choice but to ride this out! My grandma is in hospice and cant leave. Luckily they’ll have a generator but a 9-10ft storm surge can almost demolish buildings! I’m kinda scared shitless right now! They all luckily survived Charlie years ago that basically demolished neighborhoods around them, but this one seems to be much worse! God bless anyone of your families in the path of this hurricane!

I know. Those joints took a hit from Helene, but can be restored from looking at photos . Milton will wipe them out. There’s a big commercial fish processing place at Cortex, that could disappear. St Armand’s? That could be damaged beyond repair. There are many large trees in those islands that have been there for decades. All will be gone. Probably new cuts to the inland waterway, much development swept away, more barren landscape. Returning to nature.

I had a buddy get married in the late 80s. He invited Dick Vitale (and many other celebrities) to his wedding. His mother-in-law received a "we cannot attend as we are entertaining out-of-town guests" from George HW Bush. She was a little freaked out as she had no idea such people had been invited. Vitale and others never responded.
When the married couple flew into Frisco to get to Hawaii their plane was delayed landing. Air Force One was on the runway with the Bushs and Gorbechovs aboard. So the White House didn't lie.

My Aunt is riding it out in Ft. Myers. They've already lost power and have been on their generator since around noon, if I understood the text correctly.
A tornado went just east of my fam in Port Charolette! Got lucky there but looks like the bottom part of the eye with the big winds and surges is heading there way!
