Hunter should not see the floor again

Durham is killing us! Cant pass the ball in, missing fts, and that dumb charging play! He needs to see the bench immediately!

Actually, on the defensive side he's been outstanding tonight (and last game) after looking like he had no clue defensively before.

I think the light is coming on for him defensively, which will lead to him getting more minutes.

Damezi, after looking equally as awful on defense, was outstanding tonight defensively. If those two aren't the liabilities that they have been....it's huge for our perimeter defense.

Currently our worst defenders are Al (who continues to get lost and cause our defense to collapse) and Brunk (who has happy feet, falls for every fake and is 80% so late that he ends up having to jump at guys and past them when he realizes he was faked and now his man is driving to the lane).

There’s plenty of room on the Damezi train if you want to come aboard. Remember that the guy is a sophomore. He’s gonna be a good role player.

Damezi has tons of potential. If he can keep up the solid D and knock down an open J, he earns his minutes off the bench. We just beat at top 20 team by 16 in our "first" real test of the season. Hunter hadn't played in over a year and not at all at this level. Cut the kid some slack.... The deeper we go, in this part of the year, the fresher players are in the last part of the year (when it really matters).

What is wrong with him tonight?
You took a lot of crap for this post, but yeah, he made some bad plays. But do understand the kid is basically a freshman with 7 games under his belt before this, playing a top defensive team applying heavy pressure. The moment was too big for him, and he sat because of it. Not his fault, and I like that Miller gave the kid some chances in the game. Was a good learning opportunity for him.

Holy overreaction batman, at least try to sober up before you post.

People forget that Hunter is pretty much a true freshman, he couldn't even practice last year because of the injury and he's still getting his feet wet at this level.

I think he'll be really good for us long term, but the people that were expecting All Big10 this year had their heads in the clouds.

I hate to say this but, he reminds me of what I consider a Purdue player.

Scored a bunch in high school, comes to college and turns into a 4 year, tough scrapper with a gigantic chip on his shoulder.

Gonna love watching him be that kind of bulldog for us over his career.

It was ridiculous when people were saying he would be our best player.

It is equally ridiculous to say he should ride the bench.

Let the kid develop into the game.

Let the kid get back into the groove, he obviously had a serious issue and is still working his way back. He is long and his athleticism will come back as he works his way back. Can't believe the post - bad.

Actually I would say that he has a big disadvantage when compared to true freshmen. He didn't play at all for almost a year whereas true freshmen played ball the previous year. High school ball and probably AAU but at least they played.

FSU is a long deep extremely physical team. IU had no point guard.

This is a good observation. In fact, when my wife and I sat down to watch the game...and it was confirmed that Phinese was not going to play...I really thought that we were in some trouble...FSU was relentless on our guards. It goes without saying that they brought B1G caliber defensive pressure to the game...

Hunter is going to be fine. Struggled some last night. He will be a good player at IU. Glad we have him. Look forward to watching his game grow.

Are these the same posters who were chastising Damezi last year. For only scoring 3 points he was all over the place defensively making hustle plays. I assume that is why he got 20 minutes off the bench.

Durham was good against slower teams. Could tell tonight that the kid from Cathedral will be better in faster games.

That’s the type of player Indiana has sorely lacked the last decade. Anderson has a ways to go, but the lights are turning on.

Damezi has improved a lot on defense. He has a way to go on both ends of the court, but you can see the possibility he will be important later on.

Hunter is a little different. I expect he will improve at a quicker pace. He didn't play basketball for nearly a year. That has to affect his shot and comfort shooting at game speed.

Ooops ...I just meant for the rest of the game last night. I just thought he was having a bad night. He belongs in the rotation and I like his game.

Well alright then. Though some times best to get back on the horse...inclined to trust Coach Miller on that call.

We haven’t seen anything from Hunter yet. He is trying to get back into basketball shape. He will get better game by game.

Credit to Archie for letting Hunter find his way early on. You get the sense it's going to be an uphill battle all the way. He may be best suited for now as a spot up shooter . Not seeing much in his dribble. He's not going to wow with his vertical. If he can just play some reasonable defense and knock down an occasional jumper, it helps the team.

He was and was benched after that 2nd in bounds mistake. Don't remember if he made it back in the game.
