How many minutes will Jordan Fuchs play tonight from what I understand

he has been practicing since football season ended and will get minutes tonight. He is another body and 5 fouls.

Where did you hear he would get minutes?

I didn't realize he had been practicing with the team. His bio mentions he had 15 D1 offers for basketball. 6'-6" and 230 pounds.

I am assuming he will be used in the post? If he gets playing time, is it at the expense of Holt, or Hartman? Further confirmation that April and Priller are never going to play.

Re: Where did you hear he would get minutes?

He has been practicing with the second team. No one knows he has been practicing at all. He was supposed to play basketball & football at Rutgers but they fired their football coach so he switched to Coach Wilson.

April is a weird one because Fisher said on the radio the other day it was a not practicing hard, or ever putting in the time to work on his game issue. But in practice he hit's jumpers for the scout team and gets rebounds. I think it's more that he has never been taught how to practice hard or what kind of work ethic it takes.

Regarding April. Fischer said to Dakich...

the kid doesn't want to practice or put any work in. If that's the case...he can hit the streets.

That's quite a lesson for April

If April is hitting shots and rebounding for the scout team ... him riding the pine is either a huge lesson for April ... or stubbornness by CTC, when size is needed on the front line. I find it hard to imagine a kid not putting in extra work with Yogi's leadership. How can a play not work on his game when playing time is available for someone taller than 6'7 and Cook Hall being open 24/7. It seems like some of the players would drag him to Cook Hall to work on his game.

I just don't understand the lack of even giving EH, et al a chance...

how bad can they be? I've really liked what I've seen out of EH this season... talent and especially effort... with a little more play time he shows great potential... better be careful not to lose the big(s) we do have... I've pretty much given up on HMP... he's such a deer in the headlights type of player.... I just cannot stand it when he is in... as it is now though... next year's team will probably look completely different with the amount of turnover that going to take place yet again.... I tire of such fluidity...

Curious if he traveled with the team?

Fuchs was rumored to have also signed with UConn. I assume for football. They called him a two sport star so maybe he planned to play both sports.

If April isn't putting in the effort, it would be on the players like Yogi, and maybe Zeisloft to pull him aside and explain that it takes more than the practices to be successful. Assuming he has witnessed the others and been told the work the others put in, he must not want to play. If being called out by Fischer doesn't work, I don't see how or why he would want to be at IU.

If he hasn't gotten with the program by now, it is doubtful he ever will. Coaches won't bother with a kid that doesn't work hard.

Yes I heard that also on DD radio show but

in the scrimmages he can hit a jumper plus he is 7 ft so you would think he would be able to get a rebound. But doesn't want to put forth the effort on his own to get better. You would think one of the coaches would take him under wing to make him their project.

Re: That's quite a lesson for April

Crean says his players earn playing time by how they practice.

If a coach plays a kid, who's not giving his all, the kids who are, see it immediately, and the coach's word is in question.

I know that

It's that way for all coaches at all levels of play. It seems like "work ethic" would have been discovered by his JC coach in Arizona. I thought I remember CTC saying April had "great work ethic" ... so what changed after getting to IU??

Troy stays with his man in practice?

not necessarily a Crean hater but I find that hard to believe

Probably guarding Priller

Maybe it isn't that hard to do in practice.

If this is the case, April has to be the one that wants to work.

He is old enough to know that hard work and effort gets results and the attention of the coaches. If he does not want to put forth the effort and take the example of some of the other players that are, then it should be suggested by CTC that he may want to find another school to attend if he wants to play. I have a feeling that is going to happen. He should not get rewarded with playing time if he is not putting in the work. Just would not make sense.

I don't believe that he is not being taught at IU on how to work hard.

Putting in the work and practicing hard has been the theme of this team for several years now. It is constantly talked about by the coaches and the players. So obviously it is a team mindset, but for some reason it is not impacting him. If somebody does not want to give the effort then you cannot teach that to them.

I am sure that the other players have attempted.

We have nothing to suggested otherwise. The ultimate responsibility falls on April. He has to want to put in the work. You cannot force him, especially in college. Coaches can only make the team practice a certain amount of hours. It is up to the players to put in the extra work. He has a lot of examples on the current team to follow. The other players seem to get it, so why does April not get it. He is old enough to make up his own mind.

This is why you have to watch a guy for more than 2 seconds....

before you sign him.

I'd just stay away from Spring/Summer signings entirely. There are usually reasons that those guys are available.

Good point. He was doing game

prep work yesterday but that doesn't necessarily mean he traveled with the team. So we will have to see him there to know for sure. Didn't see who boarded the plane, but the way he was used in practice made it seem like he would get minutes tonight.

practice player only...

Holt and Perea will play before him.. I think that Crean has given up on April and Priller, and Fuchs may play before them.

He just started practicing w the team a few days ago and he was

Committed to uconn to play football but opened his recruitment up after Coach Pasquoli was fired. Never was mentioned playing basketball at uconn.

Insurance policy

Hartman has had to play a lot of minutes with Hanner being out. It wouldn't surprise me if Hartman doesn't have minutes reduced to give him a little break leading up to the B1G tournament and the NCAA. We don't know if Hartman's knee gets sore or needs treatment after games. He might need a break. You would think Holt could assume those minutes. Fuchs might be insurance in case Hanner isn't ready and Holt has to back up Hartman in the post along with Hoetzel.

Fuchs hasn't been with the team long, so I don't think he would play his first game on the road, but it is possible. Remember how cautious CTC was with Holt? If he plays tonight, it must be that CTC is pretty impressed with his ability. I am interested to see if Fuchs can play defense and rebound. That might be his role in spot minutes.

He started practicing last week, I think you will see him get some

minutes tonight, but he is just another body and fouls to give.

Yes he will play before Priller & April, also tonight maybe before

HMP since I'm totally sure he is healthy.

After I gave you that info you are going to doubt me that he

plays tonight. :) we'll see, he won't play meaningful minutes but he will play.

April

bases on comments by Fisch on DD's show (Monday?), April has effort issues and needs to take improving more seriously.
Implied is that he's in Crean's doghouse.

Just comparing this to Holt, not doubting

I am looking at how CTC handled Holt's introduction to the lineup. Holt didn't play the first game he was eligible even though he had been practicing with the team. I thought for sure Holt would have played in that home game, but he didn't. The articles indicate he has only practiced for a week.

I hope he does play and I hope he makes an impact. It is time we had a player nobody ever heard of punish the other team. It seems too often we are on the receiving end of those encounters.

It would show CTC thought a lot of his ability if he plays him tonight.

Are you a student? I used to get good inside info from my son and his friends from campus. We knew about injuries and other things long before the public. Most of the time we couldn't tell anyone because it would come back on the source. My sources have all graduated. I guess that is a good thing.

Re: Just comparing this to Holt, not doubting

I'm not a student anymore, I do work for the university and I also officiate basketball. That is how I get my info.

Re: Just comparing this to Holt, not doubting

April had work ethic issues? What about priller. I kept reading all spring how crean had found a diamond in the rough. Some people on here were very high on him. So what's the issue?

Re: Just comparing this to Holt, not doubting

He's not very strong, not very athletic, doesn't shoot it near as well as advertised. IMO April plays better during scrimmages as in knocking down shots & rebounding. Not sure about the not work ethic.

Dear Jordan Fuchs,

Your reputation for the duration of your stay at IU will be based on what you do tonight (if you play) because we have long and unforgiving memories. Therefore, let me make the following suggestions

1) For the love of god, do not commit any turnovers.

2) Do not drive into traffic and get your shot blocked.

3) Do not let any guard drive by you and score, ever.

Violate any one of these three -- even once -- and you will be deemed "not a B1G caliber player", and probably worse.

So, good luck .... and don't let the pressure get to you.

I think he has more toughness than a lot of kids on the roster not

sure how that will relate but I see him being a decent defender and good rebounder. Has some heart. Takes pride in working hard

Where's the beef?

HERE!!

Fuchs (left) and Rawle Alkins (right). They look mean!

Joy To The World

Posted by 5fouls on another IU website .... a CCR song (and half the youngsters here ask "What's a CCR?" lol)

Jeremiah was no bulldog
Wouldn't give effort all the time
Never really listened to what the coaches said
It earned him a seat on the pine
And, boy was it some really long pine.....sing it

If I were the king of the world
Tell you what I'd do
Make Stephens the coach of IU
And win every game against PU
