how f-ing dumb are pubes

It was nuttier than a payday candy bar.

Most conventions have family members on to give an intimate, personal side to the candidate. Don Jr just rattled off the most delusional hate speech that anyone could have done. Why not bring in Rush Limbaugh for that?

My favorites were the round tables when Trump basically asked them to tell him how great he is.

I kind of wanted to know more about their story (particularly the hostages). Oh yeah Trump praised the Turkish dictator which was....fruit cake crazy.

I'm not sure they once mentioned Pence or anyone else, it was a Trump infomercial.

I guess that make sense since he's the executive producer.

There was some crazy charter school girl railing on unions, which I thought was strange since Trump wants to be pro union (I think).

Some other girl was saying that democrats want people to die for science and that we're a bunch of dicks because we're not cool with unproven drugs and therapeutics.

Some Montana girl praised Jesus, blessed her military husband for protecting her as a damsel in distress and went on a crazy diatribe about covid, shutdowns and then looters...as a small town member from Montana??

It was a lot of scare tactics, hypocrisy and Stalinesse revisionist history.

For me the best moments were the Pennsylvania congress candidate who was a purple heart. He spoke compassionately about his view of the republican party.

Nikki Haylee was professional as she tapped danced around her actual record when she was anti Trump to how she now has to fall in line with Trump. For example she said when a white supremist shot up a church they came together and removed a 'symbol of racism' peacefully. That symbol was the confederate flag.

But she can't say that now because you know, the orange guy.

Tim Scott said some batshit crazy stuff but he also projected a kind and calm demeanor. He told his story which was interesting and made some good points.

Hayley and Scott could have a pretty good future if they can avoid being typecast as Trumpicans....while not being cast out by Trumpicans.

Thank you for summarizing. I couldn't bring myself to watch 2 hours of hate speech.

And their platform is essentially, trash the previous administration, the media, the Democrats, and wholeheartedly support what Donald Trump tells them that he wants them to support. It's all out authoritarianism, folks. The party will be changing its name and would like to now be called Donaldcans.

RESOLUTION REGARDING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM

WHEREAS, The Republican National Committee (RNC) has significantly scaled back the size and scope of the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte due to strict restrictions on gatherings and meetings, and out of concern for the safety of convention attendees and our hosts;

WHEREAS, The RNC has unanimously voted to forego the Convention Committee on Platform, in appreciation of the fact that it did not want a small contingent of delegates formulating a new platform without the breadth of perspectives within the ever-growing Republican movement;

WHEREAS, All platforms are snapshots of the historical contexts in which they are born, and parties abide by their policy priorities, rather than their political rhetoric;

WHEREAS, The RNC, had the Platform Committee been able to convene in 2020, would have undoubtedly unanimously agreed to reassert the Party’s strong support for President Donald Trump and his Administration;

WHEREAS, The media has outrageously misrepresented the implications of the RNC not adopting a new platform in 2020 and continues to engage in misleading advocacy for the failed policies othe Obama-Biden Administration, rather than providing the public with unbiased reporting of facts; and

WHEREAS, The RNC enthusiastically supports President Trump and continues to reject the policy positions of the Obama-Biden Administration, as well as those espoused by the Democratic National Committee today; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda;

RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention;

RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention calls on the media to engage in accurate and unbiased reporting, especially as it relates to the strong support of the RNC for President Trump and his Administration; and

RESOLVED, That any motion to amend the 2016 Platform or to adopt a new platform, including any motion to suspend the procedures that will allow doing so, will be ruled out of order

Socialist Utopia if the Democrats win, per Tim Scott.
Scott: "Trump fixed many of the disparities that Biden created and made our system more fair and just for all Americans."
He was referring to the passage of the 2018 First Step Act.

pubes are good at coming up with terms and making them stick, can someone explain to me what cancel culture is?
Ok, I will give you one. For years you have been a dye in the wool Democrat. You give money,time, and use your gifts for the cause. Then you get run off the road by a crazy woman and you call her a derogatory name that is sexist. You were angry and wouldn't say that normally. Well, somebody had a phone out and caught your words and then spread them. You get taken off all the Democrat boards you were on. Your friends don't accept your calls. Perhaps you even get demoted or put on suspension which could lead to future termination. You in essence have been canceled. Even after you apologize and explain,"I was mad but normally don't talk like that". It doesn't matter. They have you on video saying words to a woman that are sexist in nature and that is it. You are cancelled.

So, I'm assuming this is a true story?

Very good post.

I don't suppose 20 or 30 minutes of video in the hands of the Lincoln Project showing Hayley and Scott praising Trump at his inauguration will make it difficult for them to deny that they are Trumpicans, will it? It will be fun watching them try, though.

I wonder what their definition of a socialist utopia is? When American citizens including the corporations get free gov't handovers... say the PPP Bailout? Hmmm..

Socialised losses but privatise profits is fine then.
Plus, Trump is offered as a President who wants to "run the country like a business."

Apparently, from Trump's example, all successful businessmen do this by charitably contributing the corporation's/country's money to his rich colleagues through tax benefits or spending it on pet projects (like a wall) or spending it on transporting himself, secret service and sycophants to resorts that he owns charging additional user fees, too, of course.

All successful businessmen do that apparently. That's why Trump has only declared bankruptcy what, 4 or 5 times, right?

I made an effort to watch without (too much) prejudice, but couldn't deal with the bald faced lying and demonizing. Had to either mute or walk away. When I would come back to it, it wasn't any better. I was particularly disappointed with Tim Scott. He didn't have to go fringe.

i think peoples perception obviously causes them to vote a certain way, the problem is when the uneducated are swayed by meaningless bogeymen, looks like somehow where going to get pounded with china and the dems being in cohoots, wtf
Right and your '' educated'' people are swayed by meaningless shit just the same . Educated and intelligent aren't the same thing.

I said the other day that I never watch MSNBC, which is true. Last night I noticed someone commenting on here that MSNBC was fact-checking assertions immediately following the conclusion of someone speaking, and thus not airing some of the recorded infomercials. So I found MSNBC and the quick analysis was very helpful in dealing with the barrage of misinformation. I am sure that they indeed skipped over the analysis of anything that was partly or mostly true, but the amount of PROVABLE bald-faced lying going on was quite shocking.

I think MSNBC will be my "go-to" for convention coverage the next few nights, though it won't join my list of high priority stations for news after that.

When did you do that?

The other thing that struck me last night was the lack of anything aspirational or inspirational. That shit's important. (Yeah yeah COH, I know I know, Fvck My Feelings. By that standard, Lincoln's address at Gettysburg or his second inaugural sucked too; no policy points made in those speeches.)

Fear isn't inspiring?

MSNBC isn’t the best there is, but it should be in your tool belt.

Make no mistake, MSNBC is as slanted as it gets, but what they don't do is lie to you or allow others' lies to go unchallenged.

Maybe it is just my science-based mindset, but if I am going to hear criticism of someone's remarks, I want evidence-backed opinions.

Don't give me "POTUS said this and that doesn't fit the facts, don't you agree?" (and then three studio guests nod in agreement)

I want something more like "POTUS said this and right here are three pieces of evidence that establish that his assertions do not fit the facts" (then the evidence is presented).

I see too much of the former and last night I was getting the latter, from MSNBC. Though to be fair, Rachael Maddow always seems to have a snarky glimmer in her eye when fact-checking a Republican.

Maddow is pretty good at marshaling the facts. The conclusions she draws from those facts aren't always great.

Rachel likes to deal in information. She likes to take facts and put them together like the pieces of a puzzle. Much of the time, when she's done, she has presented a pretty clear picture. Other times, there are still some holes, and she'll speculate about what is missing and what the full picture might look like.

The other one I like is Nicolle Wallace. She takes a big picture view, painting a picture of how things used to be or how things ought to be, then contrasts it with the current picture she's seeing painted by the days events. As a lifelong Republican operative, the sense of outrage and betrayal she evinces is palpable.

Must have, I don’t keep up with all his catch phrases. I do like Sleepy Joe though, know that one.
Glad you like him. I do too. Won’t it be nice to have a decent, compassionate man in charge?

Not only compassionate, but loving, kind, friendly, and has empathy for many, especially the police. Seemingly like our grandfathers, or a great uncle.

Problem is, Joe is really none of those things, but it was repeated ad nauseas during the DNC. The other problem is, I don’t need my grandfather running for the presidency.

Joe has rushed to judgment in regards to the situation in Wisconsin which could easily cause division. Doesn’t seem very compassionate or willing to learn all details. Saying, Cops in Wisconsin “must be held accountable.”

Where’s the compassion Joe, where have you gone Sleepy Joe DiMaggio?

Do you disagree there should be accountability? Not sure you should read into that they should be prosecuted.

Of course, how can one disagree that we should all be held accountable for our actions, good or bad?

Joes ambiguous and even pointed remarks throughout the article should also render accountability.
I’m wondering, did you read the piece or only my post? If you read the entire piece and still find his comments responsible and non-divisive than you and I are on a different page.

Okay, I read the rest of his quotes. In calmer times, I'd say he might be inflaming things. Given where we are today, there's value to saying I feel your pain. Fact is, he needs the Black vote to win. He stopped short of presuming guilt. I'm not that put out by his comments.

Do you think this shooting will be acknowledged tonight at the RNC?

Better your grandfather than your science denying, bigoted, Putin loving great uncle.

That’s one thing that blows me away still, the one thing that many of them tout as a strength, his business acumen, has actually been a repeated failure for him...they must have watched The Apprentice too many times...

I watch quite a bit of Joe. But he's only irritating when he thinks he's back on the floor pontificating. I don't particularly agree with his all perspective but its worth hearing from his side. Plus the timing suits me.
