how do you think we'll fair @ Iowa and home vs. IL?

Iowa- got to cover the 3 pt. line. We've let several games out there get away in recent years, games we should have won. Ballo needs to avoid foul trouble. MM has to actually show up. Fran doesn't teach defense but their offense is streaky as hell and can go on runs when their shooters feel it and they move the ball. Don't get into a track meet with them.

Win that game, then worry about ILL.

Yes, Ballo staying out of foul trouble is key.

Good start to the BIG season but I'm not buying what Woody's team is selling. I predict a 15 point loss @ Iowa followed by a single digit loss to IL to bring us back to reality. What say you all?
I predict,we will win against Iowa and Illinois. Woodson was forced in to playing without both bigs. Something he would have never done. I’m going to give him the benefit of doubt. That he is smart enough to see what works. Won’t clog the lanes, when Reneau returns.
This might of saved his j-o-b

It also reinforced why he should lose his j-o-b.

No clue. In order of likelihood...

1. 0-2
2. 1-1, beating Iowa
3. 1-1, beating Illinois
4. 2-0

But the margin between all of these is small. 2-0 would be the most surprising, to me. Its difficult for me to envision Sand Fart and Dicks not going off on us. And then Illinois is playing really, really well, on both ends of the court right now. They'll be the best team we've played this year thus far, and they're playing well.

Imagine what life would be like winning both of them...go ahead, take the time because it feels awfully good.

Who thought our football team would finish the regular season 11-1, skunking Peeyew 66-0? Who amongst the pre-season gathered ever visualized making the first 12-team CFP?

There, (locality there) I never thought IU would beat Penn State with Reneau out.

Isn’t it possible this gift we thought from the football gods was a gift of the basketball gods, too? Perhaps just one winter-sports god with a winning smile, caught in the light of our way.

Think it.
Wait for it…
Feel it.

A win is a win but the combined record of those 4 teams is 4-14 Beat illinois and maybe we are onto something. But so far all we beat was bottom dwellers basically.

Don't really "have" to beat Illinois to be on to something. Probably do need to beat one of them, but even if we don't, if both games are well played and competitive, we can build on that and then hopefully start beating some teams. Because, at some point, you do have to beat NCAA caliber teams... But with regards to the next 2 games... Iowa is not an easy opponent to play, on the road especially. And Illinois might have one of the better teams in the country right now, being led by an NBA level point guard. Losing to both doesn't "end" our season, by any means. As has always been, for me, its more about what we look like and how we compete. Its completely unrealistic to have B10 championship and Final Four levels of expectations with this team...so with that perspective, losing these two games wouldn't be a "sky is falling" type of deal.

We can only hope that Carlyle comes out of his funk and plays the type of defense that was advertised preseason. We definitely need someone to be a lockdown defender against both Iowa and Illinois.
