It was mentioned at the B1G Media days that Hoff has taken on a leadership role with the young defensive linemen.

I think this is important for three reasons:

1. Hoff becoming the leader on the field that we expected after his freshman year. I have said it before that I think part of Hoff's lack of field time last year was Rayner deciding to step up as a Senior. We have a couple of other DL that have not cracked the 2 deep that I hope do the same thing as Rayner in a couple of years. (Barwick, Meminger, and Belden).

2. Besides Big Ralph, all of our DL are either young or have been moved from LB. Both groups need a player to help them with technique.

3. Hoff will be around for a year to work with this talented group of commits for 2017. We have good coaching with Hagen, but when these guys show up in the summer, the coaches have limited access to the freshmen until fall camp starts. A senior that is good at working with young players will be big.
