Hire Beard

That doesn’t mean he didn’t beat his girlfriend you jackass. Neither Beard nor his girlfriend denied that he put hands on her, she simply changed her story from assault to “self-defense”. Laying hands on a woman is an absolute no-no…but not surprised you would try and justify it.
I’m not justifying it. I’m saying he shouldn’t be allowed to move on from his mistake…like he already has.

I looked for 30 seconds and the articles on the Beard hire at Ole Miss talk about the DV issues extensively. I see references to "desperation" and "questionable ethics" and explanations as to why they did it. Ole Miss basketball didn't have much to lose, they're bottom of the barrel already. IUBB despite being terrible for 25 years is still very valuable with a lot to lose.

When IUBB hires a coach, there will be countless articles written about it, and basically every one will include the DV allegations. Same will go for all the op-eds, interviews, and podcasts about the hire -- we'll get the firestorm of DV discussion like on this board. That is not good.

Fair or not, IU will to some extent be viewed as okay with DV. This is a big problem for people who run the university whether you care about it or not.

And, if Beard has any issues at IU, the damage to IU will be significant. Pam and Scott would be fired.

If I were doing the coaching search, and Beard really wanted the job, I would check into his story with PIs, etc. But my guess is he screwed up and there is no angle that clears his name to such an extent it wouldn't be a PR nightmare to hire him. He would have done this already if he could.
You’re arguing with idiots. BSmitty doesn’t give a damn about the university, he likes the basketball team. Some of us are much more invested outside the basketball team.

After being fired by Texas for cause, I’m surprised Chris Beard never filed a wrongful termination suit. I wonder why his settlement allowed Texas to keep the remaining 30M of his contract. I wonder...

Who else sees Beard as a piece of excrement but would still be okay with IU hiring him? These losses have completely eroded my moral compass.

How would Beard hurt IU brand? Seriously, how? Ole Miss is becoming or will become a Brand under Beard if he stays there.
Because if IU hires Chris Beard and Chris Beard punches his next girlfriend, IU looks like complete jackasses.

Are you really this effing dense?

He freaking hired an assistant coach who was basically fired for being dumb. Said slaves should serve their masters. Could you imagine Beard being allowed to hire Adams at IU? Beard makes bad decisions and that’s not debatable. In no way will Pam allow either one of them.

We're less than 3 months from dramatically improving the state of our program. That's exciting. Whether it’s Ben McCollum or Brad Stevens, or some other dude no one has mentioned yet. There are dozens, if not a hundred or so, coaches that will put IU in a better spot than we're in right now.
You wonder why people are hesitant, or not excited by your “list”.

Because IU’s been there, done that.

Woodson needs to go. Any coach would be better. There is a plethora of coaches that will make the program better, and with IU’s resources all we need to do is get rid of Woodson and pick anyone off of a list.

Same exact things that were said about miller and the coaches before him.

Yeah staying loyal to along time assistant. Is probably wrong in this case.

You don’t understand the brand damage and risk to the university that would come with this hire. It’s not about convicted or not.
Brand damage with who? The brand is terrible basketball and alumni like the NY department store loon 🤔

I bet a lot of programs take that risk. They would also have pretty in depth interviews to vet out the incident.
If you’re ever fortunate enough to run or own a business, I highly advise you to consider that the type of people you hire reflects not only your business (brand) but you as a person.

There is no way Scott Dolson is going to stake his career or reputation on Chris Beard.

Great read if you ever get a chance. I have listened to him speak as well. Sometimes people need a second chance to refocus their lives.

I wouldn’t work for an asshole that thinks he’s above people that has made mistakes. If a person was constantly having legal issues is one thing but no one is above giving second chances so take your bullshit and stick it.

Though I bet if they had a few people on here on the jury they would have gotten a conviction without a doubt. No wonder people think there is no such thing as an unbiased jury.

Now the third-degree felony charge is dismissed, and so is the threat of up to 10 years in prison. Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced Wednesday that based on the case evidence and the fiancee’s wishes not to prosecute, he likely could not get a conviction.

An asshole? What does that make somebody who beats his wife?

They always do it again. I hope you don’t have a daughter. Once a hitter always a hitter.
I’ve been preaching that all year. I’m sure there are rare cases of one time. But the huge majority of men who hit women do it more than once. I’d imagine especially of there is alcohol abuse involved.

Ok go beat your wife, and don’t forget to bite her. Then come back and see if she wants to give you a second chance.

When did Indiana become so righteous? The universitiy hired Knight and Sampson both with checkered past and the whole legal stuff with team doctor Dr. Bradford Bomba Sr.
