I'd be curious what the stats are for (1) shootings by shooters who knew their victim(s) and thought they had a specific reason to shoot him/them v. (2) random shootings by shooters who fired numerous shots at either individuals or groups of people they didn't even know.

We need to stop both kinds of shootings, but it's somewhat possible to avoid the back alley drug deal kind of shootings and the revenge-to-right-a-perceived-wrong shootings by just avoiding risky situations like dark alleys where possible.

But the only way to avoid being part of the mass shootings of strangers in public areas is to change your entire lifestyle -- don't go to restaurants, office buildings, churches, shopping malls, a sidewalk. This will change the entire quality of life in this country, because there are far fewer warning signs whether these innocent public places are dangerous now that concealed carry has virtually become the law of the land.

How will limiting gun ownership to only 21 year olds with background checks take guns out of the hands of criminals more effectively that outright gun bans?

Wonders never cease. I agree it’s a perfectly natural response to hit harder when it’s a place you are familiar with or attached to.

The police say they are looking for him in connection with today's shooting, are calling him "armed and dangerous" but they are not calling him a "suspect" "just a "person of interest." Yeah, right.

Is this mass shooting #308, or #309 for the year? I keep losing track. Hey, we're more than halfway through! Maybe we can taper off to one per day.

i remember when i felt safe in the hood.

the war on drugs changed that.

and yes, letting thugs who should be in prison back on the street, is a huge part of the problem now.

but that's a ramification of the war on drugs as well, gone sideways.

guys were getting beyond ridiculous sentences for drug crimes. even pot.

there was huge and valid backlash against such sentences.

but credible relief from said drug sentences got hijacked by malevolent PsOS, who used that valid backlash to get violent thugs out of prison too.

those convicted of gun and violent crimes, lock em up. keep them locked up. throw away the key.

same with all home invaders. i don't care if they are heroine addicts.

Not sure the yearly count, but if new reports since Friday have been correct it's at least the third one this weekend in Chicago...
