Helene - what if

I doubt we'll know for certain what we're really dealing with until a couple of hours before Kickoff...

Hopefully the storm remnants will rain itself out Friday night and things will be clearing over The Quarry just prior to Kickoff... That's my bet..., and I'm sticking with it... 😎

It's also clear the the NWS and Accuweather are using two different computer models... This could go down to the wire! Should be interesting to see how it works out...
I've always hated it when the weather decides the outcome of a game. Even If my team isn't involved. But In Cig I trust.

I think we'll be fine... We look like we have some "mudders" on this Team in our RB stable, along with our TE's... If our WR's take a little more care when it comes to looking the ball all the way into their hands, I think we'll be all right...

One thing for the fans to remember: It'll be Wet Conditions on the field (from all the rain Friday night) whether it's actually raining during the game or not...

National Weather Service Forecast (a division of NOAA)

inched up to 50% possibility of showers with a Kickoff temperature of around 68 and now a high temp of 72... Winds from the SW at 9 with gusts up to 18

Perfect football viewing weather if the fans come prepared with a little rain gear... Might even be a little cool for a few... Now that's a major change of pace...!

Remember: That 50% possibility of rain, means there's also a 50% possibility of no rain...
I will take your last 50, but someone once said, if things can go wrong
they will.

Sure... That's Big Ten Football...

20 mph wind gusts aren't major... 30-45 would be but we won't see that per the forecast...

I'd be surprised if we see any rain though..., maybe a few sprinkles at best...
The only sprinkles I want to see is on my Dairy Queen cone. Don't think
you can get a DQ at the rock, but I can wait.

Forecast calls for rain starting tonight and not ending until Monday. I think we’ll see rain all day on Saturday. My weather channel app says 76% chance at noon Saturday and 91% chance at 3pm.

If you don't already have some rain gear tonight is the night to go get it... Mejeir and Walmart sporting goods sections are your friend (maybe Target) when it comes to inexpensive rain gear... If you want to be a Good Samaritan buy a couple of extra of those cheap ponchos for the people near you who didn't prepare or somehow just didn't get the word...

It's beginning to look like some rain is inevitable...😕☔️

Those computer models are starting to overlap...💨

Also think about where you are going to park if they don't open the saturated grass lots, which they have done before if memory serves. About a week ago it was brown and crunchy grass concrete with no rain for a long time. It should soak up some but not this much recent and now ongoing rain.

Why is this rain forecast making me more nervous? I have no clue how either team is likely to react to it. For all we know, Coach Cig's system could be perfect for rainy and windier conditions?

But here I am...assuming this forecast is a bad thing for our chances tomorrow. The pessimism of being an IU football fan, I guess.

I was there, start to finish, and the Crowd did make a difference..., so much so that Bo Schembechler whined about us after game... (The MI qb couldn't hear himself think 😎)....

We can create a Home Field Advantage if we decide we want to as a fanbase... We proved it that day...
That was the "Bone Bo" game. I probably still have the t-shirt in a box somewhere.

As I recall the NCAA made a rule that year where the QB could stop play if the crowd got so loud his team could not hear the signals. The UM QB kept stopping the play and the refs would warn the crowd and we would just get louder and louder. The refs never did call a penalty so after several stops in play the UM QB ran the play. That is one of the things Bo complained about after the game, the crowd being too loud. He said something like "Those people do not understand football" The next year the NCAA reminded that stupid rule and now we encourage fans to get loud.

Have any of you ever played football in the rain???? This is thee perfect football weather! Nothing better! Maybe not for the fans, but for the players it is.

It's better with mud... I used to like it (the mud) because it seemed to slow everyone down to my speed which was just slightly faster than glacially slow on a good day...

I was way too likkered up to remember that. I do remember taunting UM fans in the parking lot as we left.

Yes, I loved to play football in the rain and mud. Of course I never had to handle the football much (although I did play center so I had to hike it and snap it on punts, FGs etc.) so I did not worry about that too much.

I always made fun of Bo to Michigan fans, and his 2 and 8 Rose Bowl record. Three yards in a cloud of dust.
But when Frieder quit to go to Arizona State but said he'll stay to coach Michigan in the tourney... Bo won me over with his 'think again buddy'... "a Michigan man will coach Michigan". I enjoyed that. I remember his whine about the Indiana fan noise though. LOL
