It is not the athletic director's fault that IU isn't that appealing. This job isn't what IU fans think it is. Terrible arena, fans that boo their team and not being relevant for the past quarter century plus doesn't inspire many from outside to wanting this job.
Congrats on one of the dumbest posts I’ve read in a long while. A+.

Only one on that list I thought was much of a possibility. A couple I didn't want.

There's plenty of fine coaches in the profession. We'll get a good one.

Nothing wrong with taking a flyer on a guy like McCollum if he's interested, maybe Vandy's guy if he's interested. We took a flyer on Woodson. Now maybe we'll take a flyer on someone who has been, you know, coaching college basketball.
,
From all accounts the final 3 in the last search were Woodson, Matta and Porter Moser.

For all the fine coaches in college basketball we weren’t landing one the last time around. Although Matta did have a history I think it’s just past his time

We're in trouble I think.

What a joke. This is what I fully expected as well, except I don’t write about about basketball and supposedly have “inside” knowledge. I would think 90% of us figured it wasn’t going to be the 4 guys he mentioned. I will bet this time though that Dolson is going to get it right. Let’s “enjoy” the ride until decision time, and then support the next Indiana University basketball coach. GO HOOSIERS!!

Yeah, shitty 'journalism '. As par for the course.
No one realistically felt Stevens was an option.
Dusty May wasn't going to leave Michigan.
Never felt Drew was an option. Maybe ?
TJ? Possibly. Is he really off the table?

Goofman told us a bunch of was already known.

In my opinion (which I don’t know shit), there are only 2 coaches to pick from. Beard or McCollum. Problem is Beard would say yes, but may not get asked. McCollum might get asked, but IU may not be on his final radar(Iowa). Back to just settling I guess. Did I mention I am really enjoying my season tickets to football!

He could be like “Iowas Stevens”… he grew up close to Iowa…but didn’t go there. I have to imagine Iowa is an aspirational place for him though. But what happens to those aspirations if a program like IU goes all in with him?

I'm not sure who that is. If it's Beard I disagree. He's not my number 1 choice but I think he'd do well here IF he behaved.
My wife has asked me to behave for over 30 years. I’m still not very good at it.
Practice, practice, practice.
Guarantee the next coach will be using that same word over and over again.

Can we as a society ban the term “cook” for 3-5 years. Woodson was “cookin” and how did that meal turnout? Sick of that term especially when it involves coaches and administrators that have historically failed miserably.

As my parents would say back in the day, "Now you're cooking with gas".

The last several hiring cycles make me think that.

You do know that Dolson wasn't in charge the last several hiring cycles, don't you?
You do know that we have anew Pres that wasn't here the last few cycles, don't you?

From some of your posts recently I thought that maybe you had changed your ways.
Nice to see that some thing are constant and you are back to your bitching whining self.

My biggest concern would be that he has heard about some of the petty fans/board that we have. But I would hope he could see through that and like Coach Cig say
“F” you to them.

So you REALLY think that fans bitching on boards is going to influence a guy contemplating the IU job?
Especially enough to say no to 5 mill dollars?

Lots of delusional people out there that think coaches are knocking down Diolson’s door to coach here.
That ship sailed 20 years ago.

We all know we're not what we were.

But it's still a top 20 job, maybe top 10.

The school is awesome. Town is great. Fans care. Rich history.

And we pay.

We just need to make a good call for once.

Cignetti is a unicorn and IU hiring him proves even a blind squirrel can find a nut. But the institutional ineptitude remains. It’s not surprising any halfway decent coach wants no part of this job. Time to face reality.
Your disappointment at those 3 not coming says less about Dolson and more about your delusional expectations. Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula.

I don't think any coach worth their salt is going to turn down millions, a big NIL, being in the Big Ten (top 2 conference) etc because the fans boo a mediocre coach.

If they were that fragile then they wouldn't be in the coaching profession.
